I forgot to mention this earlier...When Dean first lands in the Impala in heaven and "Wish You Were Here" comes on the radio...After the first time I read this in draft-version, that song started turning up EVERYWHERE. Like, at least once a day. It was creepy. And now it is forever cemented in my mind as a Sam-and-Dean song. It was also a perfect choice for the mood of heaven in 5.16. I can see the starry sky turning when I listen to this song.
Sam and Dean having a beer together is a fitting reunion. No jumping up and down, no overly impassioned and unmotivated love scene, just the guys hanging out and not saying things they ought to say. Love it.
Dude! That song chased me around too! It's on my iPod, and it started coming up on random every single time, in favor of other songs I listen to more often. That song is sentient for sure.
But 5.16 was Guns'n'Roses "Knocking on Heaven's Door", which is also awesome and fitting.
Wait, just because I need you to know how encyclopedic my knowledge of canon is, what I meant was that your song choice fit the mood established in the show, not that the song was used in the show. Make sense? Phew.
I laughed out loud at Sam and Dean being held captive by a small army of Little Brother worshippers. The Bobby and Jess scenes were wonderful - it was really interesting seeing him through Jessica's eyes, and how his fondness for the Winchesters seeped over to her as well.
