Nexus Advent :: DAY TWO

Dec 02, 2009 06:53

The tree is still in the Nexus, sitting serenely in the middle of a fall of fresh, crisp snow. The snow covering its branches from yesterday is gone, now replaced with an assortment of ornaments, many of which are handmade and including a scarf for garland and a dozen shimmering globes that rotate through different brilliant colors. It has ( Read more... )

Swindle is heading back from a trip from the Nexus Mall--nothing bought this time--and stops near the tree. He seems pleased that the tree has more decorations on it, then notes something else in the tree. Unlit strings of lights. It takes him a moment to see what the problem is. "I don't think I carry anything around that small," Swindle says, a little iffy about using his powers so often. Still, he checks his drawer anyway...

Aha! He does have a few, and he does kinda cheat and use his magic to get those bulbs into some of the missing spots. Hey, he's got big hands >.>.

And then there is something tiny and silver sitting on his head and giving a delighted squeal when she sees the tree. "KISTMAS!"

Happy feelings come from the little sparklet as she grins widely.

"Yes, Christmas," Swindle says, quite amused at the Silver on his head, "Did you want to add something to the tree?"

-Yes! What can Silver add, Daddy?- The little one bounces and then leans down to look at his face.

Elijah was just walking through the Nexus, minding her own business... when she notices the snow and looks up to see the tree.

Evergreen tree sitting out of place! And she's nearly walked up to the thing!

"AHHHHHHHHH!"

Oops. One of the branches dips and drops a candy cane near Elijah's feet. It has a silver bow tied prettily around it. Sorry for the scare, then?

She gapes at the candy, then looks up at the tree with wide cat's eyes. It's not the fact that the tree seems to be responding to her that's surprised her, but rather the fact that the tree seems to be being nice.

And then she notices the ornaments, and the lack of a strike sign.

"Oh... you're not that tree. Oops."

"Hey Dennis! lookit! It's like the one back home, only without the cat smooshing all the branches!" This from the blonde woman sporting a very lovely black eye due to a recent skirmish in a bar. The young man with her grins and nods, before noticing something.

"Hey Den? What's your dexterity score?" Den blinks, before frowning as she inspects the tree more thoughroughly.

"Wouldn't matter... there're lights missing... Think the Mall has some that we can use to fix the strands?" Dennis looks thoughtful, before he nods and begins to head toward the Nexus Mall to buy some bulbs for the light strands.

Aw. Now that's some dedication! When they return, both Dennis and his bruised companion will find a pair of candy canes dangling from the nearest branch for them. They each have a big, red bow, too!

"Okay. I'll get the lights out, you put 'em into place?" Dennis pauses as he spots the candy canes, "ooo cool. Let's get the lights in."

Den blinks, grinning at the sight of the candy canes, "yeah." Soon, the pair are busy putting lights into strands, Dennis handing Den lights, and Den carefully putting the lights into place. Once they're finished, the pair will thank the tree for the candy canes, and head off to enjoy the treats.

Mizuno Ami has been looking for, well, something; and the Nexus is a great place to get away to for that sort of soul-searching if you know the right places.

This is not one of those places. But it's putting her in a good mood until she notices the tree isn't lit. Strange. A closer look finds the missing bulbs and she makes a thoughtful face before disappearing into the crowd for a few minutes, then returning with a replacement set.

Ami spends the next while cheerfully replacing light bulbs. It just seems natural somehow to fix it after seeing it broken.

Persephone's not one for getting most of the current holidays (they're nothing like the festivals of her time), but there's still something about the tree, with all of its sparkling ornaments, that draws the goddess to it. She notices the missing lights as well with a frown and the Ami going about fixing them.

Pretending that their argument over the PINpoints hadn't happened (she wants her friends, needs them), the girl wanders over, gathering her skirt against the snow on the ground, offering, "Want some help?"

Argument? What argument? If she remembers it, she's not telling. Ami looks up quickly, more than a little surprised by the offer coming from, well, anyone; but the look changes to a broad smile quickly.

"I bought a few boxes, so we should have enough," she says. "They're right over there." A nod serves as a gesture in the right direction.

Persephone takes the box with some trepidation. She's had to put in some UV bulbs before while staying with Ivy, but it was few and far between. Silly that something like screwing in a lightbulb could thwart a goddess, but there you go.

She shuffles a moment, studying one of the strands of fairy lights before plucking a replacement and carefully putting it in. Success!

Metody smiles at the sight of the tree and wanders over. It takes him a few moments to realize that glassy glitter close to the branches is from defunct lights and not a low-laying ornament. He pokes around at the lights, then frowns at the realization some are missing.

Well, his own lights don't use quite the same bulbs, but maybe they'll fit. He vanishes in a flash of PIN light.

A few moments later he PINs back, holding a plastic baggie of extra bulbs. He screws them in one by one, pausing between each to give the lights a hopeful look.

The strand of lights flickers, then lights up colorfully once the last bulb is screwed in. This tree's looking prettier by the minute! A branch nearby dips beneath the weight of a bright and dark blue striped candy cane with a colorful yellow bow and it sliiiiides off toward Metody. He'll find it's blueberry flavored and leaves his tongue a delightful cyan sort of color.
