J's made an effort today to look smart and snazzy and all that jazz. Though it just doesn't quite compare to his friend who pretty much radiates sophistication. It doesn't matter all that much to J who knows he's more fun has his hands all over Liam. Liam accepts the manhandling, although he'll make an effort to keep things decent. For the children

"There have been a total of five over the centuries, Sir, but the first and the last I am not able to speak of. And the other three are dead." This comes from a small, pale teenager dressed in form-fitting black leather.

"Oh I absolutely agree! That's the most important part of home." And there is someone he'd give that look to, who would be oblivious to the implications, more than likely.

Oh, unrequited love lust love. "Not to continue being sappy, but it's something I've been missing for awhile. It's nice to have it back."

"I understand." And he does. He's not sure if it's unrequited in his case or not. The person in question was just brought up to see romantic love as something kinky.

"Best of luck to your situation," he says in all sincerity.

"Thank you, Sir. I mean Liam." Val smiles. "Sorry."

"Think nothing of it," he says with a smile in return.

He doesn't take his arms off Liam. "That's bad luck. But I guess there is the whole multiverse and plenty of time."

"Not luck, Sir, simply time. I can't die, and most people do, regardless of their species. It can't be helped." Val smiles, recognizing J from the party.

"You can drop the 'sir', you know, if you like. Maybe you need to be looking in the immortals department then, maybe?"

Val's eyes get a far-away, and not-very-happy look in them for a moment. "The first one was. Is. He can't die either, but - what He has now isn't exactly life, and I can't fix Him. His own family killed me, and made Him sleep forever, just because they didn't want a human in the family."

"The second was an angel. Supposed to be immortal. Third was an elf. Not immortal, but long-lived." Val shrugs. "If they die anyway, I might as well learn to be happy for a short time, grieve, and move on, then waste years looking for someone to live forever, only to have something happen to them, too. Right?"

"Sorry that happened." J looks a bit more sober. "That makes sense. Guess I wouldn't really know. Never had any experience in that sort of thing."

Val smies. "It's ok. I'm happy now. That's the important thing, isn't it?"

J immediately switches to grinning. "Oh definitely. Things are never any good if you're not happy."

"And I have Kage and his party to thank for it. He's a good friend."

J grins. "He is. Good party, too."
