There's a cat watching him - that was the agreement, to watch over Kai - and swishing his tail impatiently. Some of those conversations were more irritating than usual.

Hawkins glanced around. "You can deal with the Nexus pretty well, mate. I think you'll be fine."

"Thanks. I hope so."

He looks around the place. "The Nexus is kind of weird though... other than the obvious ways. It's like no one's really comfortable, not completely, so... it's easier not to feel out of place."

Hawkins laughed. "There are reasons for that, little mate, don't you think? If you can deal with it here, you'll be fine."

"I guess so..." was the answer to both question and statement. He smiles at Hawkins a bit in spite of himself.
