Here, watchers, we observe the tan-and-white freelancer in his natural habitat... okay, let's stop the commentary here, because this sure as hell ain't natural. What is the case, however, is that York is leaning over a wall, arms folded on top of it. He gives a little tweak at the headset hanging on one ear, blinks, and settles back down.

"Okay, guys." He taps his fingers for a moment. "Let's try this one. It's - kind of been going through my head. What'd you say makes a real person? Would you say it's just humans, even around here? Other intelligent beings, AIs - hey, it's not like I'd ever say Dee wasn't." As if that isn't true in any case... no matter who's really saying it. "Do emotions matter, there? Does it matter if you can understand them, the person, or not? I don't mean languages. The way they think. Things like that."

"Aaand that's probably one of the oldest ones in the book, whatever. I'll give you another one, same kind of deal." He tilts his head slightly. "How far would you go to survive?"
