Look for people who have turned out to be the sort of people you would want your own children to grow up to become. Once you've decided on that, you should ask these people about their fathers. You'll probably find traits in common- and that will be the set of traits you want to encourage in yourself, if you're considering your own fatherhood.

A voice answers him. It's a very strange voice, seemingly doubled: a high, giddy part and a low, gulchy part.

He nodded. A slight twitch of a half-smile came to his face for an instant. For the rest of their lives, he would make sure she was safe. It was one of the few things he hadn't utterly failed in, yet.
