For once, Lichtenstein isn't sitting with a book in hand. It's placed open on a table a little way from him, German shorthand scribbled across it. The doctor himself is standing a palm out in front of him, observing the flame he creates and extinguishes in an endless loop. Every so often he alters one of its characteristics. Shape, heat, light, how hungrily it burns, or how eagerly it sparks up. It's when he pauses to make a note about heat that he asks his question.

"How much would you risk to eradicate your greatest fear? Or how much would you offer to get your greatest wish?"
