I always thought Cas disappeared when he did so that Dean would realize how much he ~does~ miss Sam. It was like Cas's way of supporting Dean the same way Dean had just given him a pep talk. Which made me love him all the more ;)

Yes, there is that. Dean's very good at lying to himself (and other people), I think Cas makes him realise that *nods*

Yeah me too... now if only I knew how to make peace with the way Cas left him at the end of "Swan Song" all would be right with the world!

I never thought of that before but it's so true! Dean is very good at lying to himself while Castiel always sees to the truth of him.
