I didn't even realise Invincible was the last book in the series until a couple of days ago. *facepalm* ( Read more... )

Frankly, Ben was the only good thing to come out of this series. I'd talked about this in my last LJ post. Based on the spoilers - which I won't go into here since you want to be spoiler-free - I won't be reading Invincible and may likely never read a SW novel from that period again.

I didn't hate the series and I really liked the way they wrote the fall of Jacen (making him more and more insane) and the maturation of Ben (his character got better and better as the series went along) and the way the political machinations worked. I think they got how civilizations can fall far and fast and they did it well.

But there were a couple of things that absolutely ruined it for me. Mara's death being one and the other, the ending of Invincible. I don't know if I'll ever recover from that, SW book-wise. It's too bad, too, since I pretty much bought every book when it came out. I guess it's their loss... and mine. :(

I'll mark down that post to read later, because I am trying to stay spoiler-free. *will resist temptation* :p I have come across one spoilery point by accident which I didn't like too much, but I'll take it with a grain of salt. I find if I approach the series as light reading it's easier not to get too annoyed with it. Reading into it as much as some of the people on Lit do really can't be good for your health... o.O And there's always fanfic, which is good for filling gaps and creating complete AUs and all manner of things.

Excuse the rambling, but I don't want to query your comment too much because - spoilers! *hides*

There actually isn't any spoilers in my posts. I know that people haven't read the book yet and want to stay spoiler free and I respect that. Oh, maybe not, now that I think about it. I think someone replied and it had a spoiler.

Never mind.

Yes, there is fanfic but when I'm this upset about it, I tend not to want to write in that era. My one story from LotF - which I had vowed to finish even it's been 6 months (and I was working on it just before the spoilers hit) - I may abandon. I've never abandoned any stories before but this one... my heart just isn't in it any more.

Maybe after a while, it will get better but I'm not sure it will.

Anyway, thanks for listening to my rambles. :)
