You should educate yourself before you link. The idea that Nurture is responsible for all psychological gender differences is absurd. To think culture would be so powerful as to wipe out a billion years of growth of behavioral differences between genders is silly and arrogant. Nurture is over-rated because it let's us hold onto beliefs that make us feel in control and gives us easy answers.

Best book I've seen on the subject, bar none. Calls out lots of sloppy, politicized, and very badly analyzed science.

This is one of the reasons I feel a friendship-rival is so important. A constant feeling of competition can really light the fire under a persons ass and get them to places they may not have gone by themselves.

It's the difference between 'I need to improve', and 'I need to improve so I can crush this person'

Ehh...depends on your priorities and the person in question. People can inspire you or enrich your lives in other ways. Usually, though, i'd say it throws a wrench in their ability to be creatively bold. I don't know how much that matters to a lot of people, though.
