1) Buy materials, including a screen, which is like a screen door screen, except made with a very finely woven silk (or synthetic).
2) Spread photo emulsion on the screen; when it's dry it becomes light sensitive. Put a transparency on the screen with your design on it (backwards). The black area of the design will block light, while the clear areas will cause the emulsion underneath to react and harden.
3) After the screen has been exposed, you wash out the softer emulsion.
4) Put the screen on the canvas, and spread ink all over it with a squeegee, the ink will go through the clear screen (where the emulsion was washed away) and stick on whatever is beneath.
