...but subtlety's still evading me. Fonts in particular seem to be troubling me, with the font of #1 huge and clumsy and that in 4 hard to read and chunky (maybe my anti-aliasing was off ( Read more... )

I'm making them gradiated colours, and not just straight, either-- you'll notice a ripple effect in the borders of 1 and 6. 1, 2, 5, and 6 reveal my dawning love affair with "outer glow" but it's clumsy, without subtlety. 1 also shows rudimentary exploration of brushes in the glint of his smile.
