i have experience with moving a cat into a household with a medium-large dog!
the dog chased her around a lot (just to play, not viciously) and the kitty hissed/clawed and hid underneath things, but after a few weeks they were able to lay together and sleep. :D the dog still chases her though, but i think kitty likes it.
