Inspired. I actually own one of the books she cites. It's called My Heart Is On the Ground, which Slapin's website has an impressively restrained yet incredibly detailed critique of. I started re-reading it yesterday and it's very fun because you can pick out everything on her list. It's like playing a game of Spot the White Privilege and Cultural Appropriation. Good times on every page!
Funny, yes, but also horrifying. The idea of someone randomly deciding to "speak for" children who'd died in boarding schools and to take their names from gravestones (with all of the horrors that took place at those schools) in such a fake way actually turns my stomach.
