Oyate.org's list of "Books to Avoid" contains dozens of examples of what cultural appropriation looks like, spelled out most clearly here and here.

This is a fascinating article from a journalist who is clearly encountering the issue of "cultural appropriation" for the first time. I wish I could find more about the appropriation of Hindu art, too. (*sigh*)

Thanks fo rte Unitarian link. I sang for Reverend Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley several years back--she died about a year ago. The UUs are a predominantly (75%+) white, and sometimes need to be reminded of appropriation issues even as they mean well. she did a great, patient job with educating folks
