It just hit me why the people in my journal couldn't understand why I didn't want to explain. They were expecting 'Magical Willow' and Willow was just being 'human and pissed off' and then they were left going 'But omg! Where's the magic?!'

M'glad the conversation at least led me to this community.

Great article. It came to mind, as I was reading it, that Neo in the first Matrix movie believes Morpheus is the One. I remember how much I loved that when I was watching it the first time, and how I felt let down when it turned out, no, he was wrong. It hadn't occurred to me that part of what I was responding to was the novelty of the messiah/mystic advisor dynamic maybe possibly almost being subverted. The scene where Neo rescues Morpheus, fully believing that Morpheus is the savior and it is Neo's role to be the sacrifice, if there's going to be one, was intense and emotionally galvanizing.

Sigh. Now I'm even sadder for the lost potential of those movies.

Oh jeez. That hadn't occurred to me. That would have been so cool. Neo might actually have been interesting in that role.
