'Tis no Sin for a Woman to Labour Her Vocation

While the Bell guy was fixing my internet, I passed the time by looking at the books in my bookcase. I was struck by the realisation that I've always loved the slash and to an enormous degree. Now, that's not exactly news - as I've posted before, and as halfshellvenus and I discussed recently, it started sometime around puberty with that 'smarm' type of slash ( Read more... )

discussion, slash

You know what now. Pick up those brushes and get painting, damn you! BTW, will you be taking commissions, 'cos I have one or two interesting scenarios involving a certain very beautiful, long limbed boy with a shaved head in mind. ;)

You're right about what now.

I will definitely take commissions. I think I have an idea of who that long limbed boy might be. ;)

I umm... was here to read your slash but accidentally fell into reading this ;) It sounded very familiar so I thought I'd answer.

For a few years back, I found some old newspaper clippings that I cut out when I was a kid. Ten/twelve, maybe. And of most of it was the full-page pictures of pretty, sweaty soccer players hugging. And not cause I liked soccer.

So that leads me to answer that yes, apparently boy-on-boy can be a calling for a straight girl. For whatever reason. But how can you have missed your calling? You know now. What's stopping you from drawing/painting/sculpting now?

And btw, I totally agree with your professor. Everyone would argue. I took writing classes for a year. I told my teachers about the slash-community and they where all so confused: "Is it feminism? Is it gender-confusion? Is it just cause 'everyone else's doing it'... Is it... what is it?!"

So if your talented... go nuts

Ooh, I'm glad you did. Everything here's for reading - if I wanted to keep things private I wouldn't publish them publicly, so I'm pleased when people do read and take the time to respond. Discussion is good! So thank you. :D

Mwahahaha. I understand completely. My dad doesn't understand how an artsy girlish thing like me can get so excited by the World Cup every time it comes around...

Nothing's really stopping me other than my own crappitude at accomplishing things. =/ But I'm working my way up to being a productive member of society. *swears to self once again*

oooOOOooo I know the productive member of society-part. I was for years, but at some point it felt so meaningless that I stopped. Now I'm 26 and a full-time art school student. It feels right, but I dunno if I look forward to being broke for the rest of my life ;)
