Entry #A-2: "An" [Video/Action, Just Outside New Bark Town]

Mar 22, 2011 20:53

[The camera is focused squarely on a smirking Gastly, one that leers happily up into the screen. This fellow Slightly seems to rather like being the center of attention, and it's easy to see that in the way it vamps it up for the camera, floating back and forth and saying "Gastly" at various catchy rhythms to itself. Or its audience, or something. ( Read more... )

[...Does everyone have an Onix except her now? Totally not cool, man.

The way that Ryuzaki reacted to it isn't very comforting, though. In fact, he just seems very off in general, but that's just because Lynne has never seen anyone quite like him before.]

Um... Are you alright?

[L's composure is difficult to crack, and it annoys him when it does. Though the occasions are rare, he's reacted this way before. He picks himself up, retrieving his pokegear and refocusing it on the pokemon. Whoever and whatever L is, he seems to dislike being on screen.]

Fine, just... startled. I did not expect that.

It would seem that my team numbers two, at this time?

[This seems to bemuse him. Maybe he's still in shock, or maybe he sincerely never thought he'd acquire more monsters.]

[Oh, it seems this one doesn't like the camera too much. But that's okay, Lynne doesn't mind.]

A Gastly and an Onix, huh? That's quite an interesting team so far.

[In the camera screen, the Gastly edges uncertainly away from its new, enormous traveling companion.]

"Gaaastly..."

[The Onix rumbles at it, and it shivers and darts behind the camera, presumably to hide behind its trainer. L makes a disgruntled little noise, swatting it away.]

I appreciate the sentiment, but I can't breathe when you get so close, Slightly.

"Gastly. Gastly."

I... can't say that I don't appreciate the gesture, but it certainly comes as a surprise.

[He still seems hesitant about getting too close, but judging by the way the pokedex is bobbing and the perspective is drawing nearer, he's at least approaching it.]

Ooooh, so that's why she wanted an Onix. I see, I see...

[She giggles and then laughs at him.]

So you're the one that irritated my sister.

Sister? Then you're another artificial construct with a sequential, sin-related name?

I had rather thought that we were getting on well. If she was truly irritated, perhaps I should have waited longer to taste the food she sent...

You sure like to draw out words, don't you?

Your loss.

[The pokegear gets scooped up and the focus returns to the two pokemon, rather than the rangy, shaken young man who had been briefly visible over videos. He seems to avoid showing his face during conversations.]

I enjoy having the capacity to express myself in any way I choose to, yes.

My loss? I seem to have gained a pokemon, at the very least...

[She has been observing quietly since she heard her name very clearly mentioned over the feed. None of that food is poisoned. At worst, the crisps MAY be a little stale, but that's hardly health-threatening.

His opening of the pokeball and subsequent reaction, however, finally make her break her silence]

I hadn't expected it to arrive so quickly. I guess their Pidgeot mail rates weren't inflated after all.

[The crisps weren't that stale. At any rate, the bag of them seemed to have gotten dropped and spilled when the Onix had startled L, and the Gastly is currently poking through them and eating its fill.]

Was it your intention to attempt to give me a heart attack? I assure you, you very nearly succeeded...

Hardly. She was merely greeting you.

[Truth be told, two days ago at about this time, Belphe would not have been able to tell you thing one about an Onix's behavior. But after hours of catching and releasing them, she'd come to to tell the difference between a friendly rumble and an aggressive roar.]

I think you'll find reaching Cherrygrove to be easier now.

[Belphegor's hard work paid off; L's Onix is unusually good-tempered and gentle, rumbling down at him in a low, resonant way that suggests it's wondering if its new trainer is OK.]

Indeed, I don't think I can thank you enough...

[He reaches out a hesitant hand to touch the Onix's rocky surface.]

Cartographer.

[Oh. She looks just like a cheerleader. Good bone structure, blond hair, clear skin... L picks up his pokegear hastily and makes sure that spindly, pale image is out of the picture. He focuses it instead on the new, towering Onix.]

Ah, yes, thank you... I have succeeded in finding my feet again, and I don't... I don't think it's going to attack me...

I've found that size doesn't really matter so much... it seems to have just as much to do with speed and force... but I have no doubt that it will certainly help me get where I'm trying to go.

[L never makes a good impression. He's too puzzled by this to really notice the way what he just said sounded.]

[This look, before he picks up the pokegear and very deliberately switches it to audio.]

I have yet to see dignity keep a man from getting eaten or crushed.
