[Her face appears completely neutral. Those who know her might have recognized the slight glimmer of amusement playing about the corners of her eyes at the young man's predicament]

It may help your cause to know who people are looking for to pass your name along to.

[He's not terribly happy about his face just being visible over the network; on his pokegear screen, he can see a dark-haired girl, but it's a good three or four feet beyond his reach.]

He's an older man, with a mustache, a hat, and a long coat. He wears spectacles... he'll answer to Quincey Wallace.

[He starts searching about for a stick, seemingly with the objective of trying to knock the pokegear out of the Gastly's grasp.]

I see.

[She's silent a moment, watching him search, before continuing]

I'm afraid I've yet to run into anyone matching that description. I will ask my sisters to keep an eye out.

[Another silence, more observation, and...]

It would seem our gamemasters are not terribly good at finding suitable matches for everyone, are they...?

Are you implying that others have monsters like this, as well?

[He looks and sounds interested, but not terribly pleased.]

Having perused my "Breeder's Handbook," it seems like there are quite a few options. According to a woman erroneously calling herself my mother, there is no way for me, personally, to give up the ghost.

[Ah, to be able to reach his pokegear and turn off the video that's broadcasting his face, clear as day, over the networks. :/ ]

Welcome back? I... believe you must be mistaken. I don't forget mundane things, and I certainly wouldn't forget something as incredible as waking up in an unfamiliar city without my uncle.

[It's a bit of a distance, but from what L can see, he tries to memorize the man's face.]

I have no reason to believe you, but... you don't seem like your lying. At the very least, you're convinced of this, yourself.

[He looks, and sounds, disquieted.]

What transpired, in our previous conversation? Or conversations, plural?

Is your capslock key sticking or something?

[He has to squint to read that; his Gastly is hovering at just the right height for him to just make out the text.]

I suppose it must have been. Who is messaging me?

[... There's a brief pause before the screen flickers to life. Texting too much made Heather's thumbs sore, and she had no reason to hide her face. Have a scruffy blond thing raising a brow at you, L.]

Name's Heather. And that sucks if you just got here and your keys are sticking already.

[Oh, he would prefer so much not to have to show his face on the networks, but the way things currently are, his only other choice is to run and hide in the grass just outside of New Bark Town. Not the best option, when his only defense is floating serenely three or four feet beyond his reach with his pokegear in its mouth.]

I know, it's very inconvenient.

[His eyes are wide and earnest as they peer up at the screen. He looks young for his age, even though he looks several nights short of sleep and several meals short of a healthy weight.]

Mine must be malfunctioning. I should see about getting it fixed as soon as possible.

[Burst out laughing]

Ghost types like antagonizing people. If you ignore it might give it back or hide it somewhere.

Really? They do? I hadn't guessed.

I've tried ignoring it, you know. I ended up with a paralyzed arm.

Could have been worst, it could have poisoned you.

Maybe if you threaten to leave it in a windy place it will give it back.

[The Gastly drifts lower, hearing this and seeming to react to it with at least a bit of fear.]

Yes. Yes, I suppose I could do that...

"Gastly!"

[It nudges him, with surprising force for something that appears so immaterial, dropping the pokegear at L's feet. He quickly scoops it up.]

[He's halfway through unwrapping a sucker when he glances up at the hovering screen, tucking it into the pocket of his pale cheek.]

If you're referring to the message I posted inquiring after my uncle, I'm afraid I don't know what you're referring to.

[There's a code, there, after all, but L's not going to just come out and say that.]

Well you should. Some letters are capitalized and they aren't supposed to be.

Your uncle might show up, if he isn't already here. Or maybe not. This place is pretty random when it comes to who it takes.

Hm. Well, if you say so. Perhaps I'll go through and correct it at a later time.

[Kyo doesn't know L, and therefore isn't aware that the placid smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes says that the later time will be half-past I-Don't-Give-a-Fuck P.M.]

From what I've heard so far, no one has seen anyone like him, which is truly unfortunate.

What is your name? I haven't seen you before.

[He say this like it bothers him, even though he just arrived not that long ago.]
