[L's Gengar Slightly flicks on L's pokegear, seeming to be in something of a rush. Because there's a little red egg with teal spots twitching and rocking, and even if his trainer's not here, he absolutely has to get this on film ( Read more... )

[L is actually pressed up against the wall; when Cartographer makes sudden movements, it is usually the best approach to get out the way.

He creeps past his momentarily flattened Gengar and opens the door warily, relaxing when he sees that it's Bakura.]

Oh, it's... fine, just...

[If he seems distracted, it's because his Rotom appears very interested in "BLAKHART" scrawled on the wall.]

My Gengar named my Rotom and I'm afraid that he won't answer to anything else, now. That's essentially the state of affairs.

No, no he isn't. I think he takes some sort of twisted pride in the fact that he can be basically understood while still spurning "correctness" in all forms.

[Slightly waves weakly from under the Steelix's body, where he's currently pinned.]

Anyway... meet Leitmotif. It just hatched a few minutes ago; my fourth ghost.

You know... we're both ghost trainers. If you're interested in fighting me to level up, I wouldn't be adverse to the idea.

... I see Ghosty there subscribes to the 'Hot Topic' method of naming things.

"Hot..." I beg your pardon?

[L's never shopped at the store, despite his awesomely emo haircut.]

Hot Topic. It's-- ... never mind, it doesn't really matter here, I guess.

Maybe it doesn't, but I am interested. I'd like to know.

Looks like its evolution didn't help it improve its use of language at all, huh.

Congratulations, meanwhile. [on both the evolution and the newborn.]

While I question whether its use of language is proportionate to its knowledge of language.... you're correct. His use of language hasn't improved. I think he takes some sort of petty joy in spiting my desire to see things technically correct.

...Thank you.

My condolences on the matter, I suppose. Though I'm a little curious as to why you keep him around at all-- considering I'd find him a nuisance even as a bystander, I can only imagine how bad it must be for you as his trainer.

He's actually very strong, Light. And loyal, even if he's overprotective to the point of ridiculousness quite often.

Furthermore... I don't think I actually COULD get rid of him. He's attached to me.

[Xanxus is just... staring at that Rotom. He thinks it's kinda cool, okay...]

...What the fuck is that.

[Slightly perks up when he hears his favorite word. L just regards his pokegear with an unimpressed expression.]

Who the fuck wants to know?

[And he's just going to glare.]

Xanxus.

[Then, from behind Xanxus, pops out his own Gengar! And it's a female Gengar. Fantasma sees the other Gengar on the screen and waves to him with an oh so delightful grin on her face.]

[Oh my God Slightly is in love. Seriously. His eyes just turned into hearts.]

That doesn't mean much to me. I've never heard of you. More to go on, if you would.

[It's that fake sort of politeness that L does so well.]

Your... ghost can write? Poorly?

Yes, and absolutely.

I sometimes think that he knows full well how to spell; he just chooses to express himself this way because he knows how technical I am about such matters.

I wasn't aware pokemon were capable of speech or written language...

It depends on the intelligence of the pokemon in question. It's most common among ghosts and psychics, I think. So maybe your Ralts can learn.
