I think I wrote this in one of the private LJ's, but one of my favorites from my growing quote collection:
"Kill your darlings." As in words, not loved ones.
How incredibly ironic that William Faulkner is the one to pass that advice on. -

I did write.

I waited on 472 people this evening.
This asshole, probably number 389, comes in with the remnants of stitches above his eye and an ego that would take up two plane seats. He is playing thug versus money. I would have guessed the the dude was twenty-six.
He threw money at me before he even said, "Give me Newports and a grape Philly."

It's really quite amazing how very few people count their change. At least ninety percent of the population quickly folds their money into their pockets or stuffs it into their wallets.
That being said, don't be an asshole to the person behind the register. Then they make (take) tips.
