Proper eating

May 21, 2008 20:29

For the first time after a couple of years, cy-v and I have been able to eat at a table at home. We had all our breakfasts, lunches and dinners either at the bed or on the couch, and quite frankly I've been annoyed by that from the start on. At my parents', I've been taught that (especially) dinnertime is a moment where the family comes together and ( Read more... )

Breakfast looks really good! =D
And tables are really handy. I love sitting at them while reading or sitting behind the computer. For some reason i always get a really bad back ache for sitting to long in my bed with a laptop or a book.

Yeah, same here. But then again, beds aren't actually made for sitting in. ;-) I've always had a table for my computer (just regular desktop, no laptop ;-)), but eating with your plate on your lap on the couch, or in the bed having to remove all the crumbs afterwards, just didn't do it for me. I'm a happy, happy boy now. :D

Haha, true true. But i have to admit that i'm one of those people who always eat their meal on the couch. My mom does it too, she prefers couch over table XD
But when we do eat at the table, it's always because we're met more than 2, or if we have lots of pans and all. And i always enjoy that too (:

Tsja, ik ben echt opgevoed met aan tafel eten. Dat was bij mijn ouders nooit anders, misschien een paar keer voor heel bijzondere televisieprogramma's. Ik weet nooit waar ik mijn bord moet laten als ik op de bank zit, en dus zit ik nooit lekker... En bovendien is het eten een mooi moment om m'n vriendin weer eens volle aandacht te geven, zonder afleiding door computers, televisie en telefoons. Gewoon even ouderwets rustig zitten. Ik zal wel ouderwets zijn, maar ik vind dat heerlijk in deze tijd waarin altijd wel aandacht van je gevraagd wordt. :-)

Ikea pretty much wins at life. :-)
It looks like a great table and an even better breakfast!
I'm glad you've finally got somewhere to sit down and enjoy your meals and good company. :-)

Certainly am! We're hoping we can even get the table outside, so we can have dinner outside on warm days. :-)

I haven't been to Ikea since I lived in Chicago, I was so helplessly addicted. Your breakfast looks amazing! The plates are very yin-yang to me, cute :)

I'm glad you have a table now to enjoy yourselves at! (:

The contrasting colors are great indeed. They're actually from Ikea too (as is the cutlery, croissant bowl, fruit bowl, chairs...). Ikea simply is cheap and easy. :D Addictive indeed.

That's great! I absolutely love sitting down to a table to eat. Eating then becomes more like an experience than just a chore. PLUS I find I make the presentation better, which I means I usually add in more colours, meaning more fruit/veggies... So, having a dinner table makes your life more healthy :P

Exactly! :-) Rather than just doing it as a "side activity" of something else, it becomes an activity in its own right.

And coloring your food's great. Once I made a pasta dish, adding ingredients based mostly on color. I used red tomato sauce, so any other red ingredients were out of the questions. Instead of a red pepper, I used a green one. And instead of red or green paprika, I went for the yellow ones. To top it off (not color related), I put in lots of garlic.

I didn't use a recipe, but it's become a classic dish, and cy-v frequently craves for "your pasta", as she calls it. XD
