Having arrived there, adjusted, spent a day or so there, De could almost say that he felt absolutely comfortable. Which was something, at least. Leaving the ship had provoked an anxiety within him, but that was more to do with the enforced change, and worries about how one got off a starship and onto a planet - he knew how it was done of course; ( Read more... )

She was loving it. It was the first time she'd been off the ship. The first time she'd been anywhere as a puppy, with smells and sights and everything so vivid and huge and alive. There was that strange overlay, things familiar to her as concepts but in this new body, this new brain, it was new again too.

It reminded her of California.

Whatever that was.

She wriggled this way and that, trying to get the sense of everything, sensory overload welcome as thoughts flitted through her brain too quickly to tangle her up with meaning.
