I think it's a satire, though it's not funny and it is insane. The way "Glorified Truth Production" is written and the whole youtube presence of his videos are too cartoonish to be serious. (or may I underеstimate religious bigots?) Also, having in mind how he answers to comments, it's clear that he likes to screw with people and to be mysterious of weather he's ironic or not, which means to me that he's overall 'joking'.
And after all, funny or not, intended or not, it functions as a satire - who would feel good about religion after this. :P
Plenty of religious bigots did use more or less similar arguments ("amputees didn't deserve their limbs", etc), that's why I though this guy was for real. But the more I dug into it, it seems that if he was as crazy, he probably wouldn't stand for being trivialized.
I rushed into posting it a bit I suppose, but you're right - served its purpose. :)
