2008 DCU Free For All Peace Day Challenge

Aug 20, 2008 16:46

We're still a week away from the end of the Summer Challenge and the beginning of the Autumn Challenge, but I feel like now is a good a time as any to unveil the 2008 DCU Free For All Peace Day Challenge. :)

On September 21st, the world will celebrate an international day of peace, in which governments, armies, and ordinary citizens the world over will make a concerted effort to lay down their arms and conflicts, and come together a little bit, help one another make our world a better place. In that vein, this challenge is to write fic or create art/graphics that celebrates peace, to show that the world of the DCU can have peace and to encourage it in the real world as well.

The usual challenge rules apply: Anyone who wants to participate is welcome, regardless of whether you have a primary challenge claim for the community. Though if you *do* have a claim, I encourage you to include your submission(s) toward your challenge. All pairings/characters, ratings, and genres are welcome. The challenge is this: Write fic of at least 100 words (or make art/graphics) for one of the following prompts from the Free For All prompt tables:

1. T01; P16: Washington, DC
2. T01; P47: JLA Headquarters/Hall of Justice
3. T01; P52: The Themysciran Embassy
4. T06; P32: Rebuild
5. T07; P03: Trust
6. T07; P07: Sacrifice
7. T07; P18: Accountability
8. T08; P14: Brightest Day
9. T11; P06: Heal
10. T11; P10: Together
11. T11; P15: Innocence
12. T14; P16: Perfect World

Special Prompts (non-table prompts):

1. Olympics/Olympic Spirit
2. Humanitarian Aid
3. Cease-Fire
4. Gaia
5. Children

Remember, the overriding theme is peace, so consider that the primary prompt you'll be using, in addition to one of the table prompts or special prompts.

As usual, when posting, tag with either 'fic' or 'art' or both, depending on what you're posting, tag with your claim tag if applicable, and for this challenge, tag with 'community challenge: peace day'.

The challenge will run until Midnight, EDT on Tuesday, September 30th, and everyone who participates will get a nifty banner. That's only just over a month, so I encourage all to keep this on your calendars and participate! :)
