Welcome to the DCU Fandom Guide, your guidebook to DCU fandom on Live Journal and elsewhere on the web!
After a long time spent wondering just what Live Journal communities are out there for all the various characters, pairings, and incarnations of the DC Comics universe, my brain hatched a plan: gather together all the links to all the communities I could find, and post them in one place, to serve as a jumping-off point for DCU fans to find places for discussion and for the posting of fan-created content. Starting with the list of DCU fan fiction oriented communities posted on superhero_muses and the lists of DCU-related communities and Smallville-related communities on newbieguide, I began the long list of links that has since required the creation of this community to house them all. Borrowing the basic format from brown_betty's DCU list on newbieguide, I created a system where each type of community has its own list, such as communities that center around certain characters, and communities that serve as DCU-related newsletters. Some communities are cross-listed, depending on their content and focus, and each category has its own post here (except for short lists - they share posts with other short lists with similar content).
Overall, my ultimate vision for this community is that it will house an ever-evolving collection of links to all the wonderful DCU-related communities here on Live Journal (and boy, are there plenty!) and on Dreamwidth, as well as links to many DCU-related sites, forums, and erstwhile communities elsewhere on the net.

This community is not open for posting (only moderators will post here), but is now open for joining and/or watching!! Several communities posts are still under heavy construction, so please bear with me while I finish up the renovation, and watch this space for developments!
ETA 10-28-2012: In an effort to clean up the overgrown mess that the Fandom Guide had become, I've eliminated the Activity Level Indicators. There was simply no way to keep up with the ever-changing activity levels of LJ DCU fandom, especially with the shift of a good portion of fandom to tumblr. So, if you're not sure if a community is alive, slowly dying, or long forgotten, just click the link for that comm. I promise it won't hurt. ^_~
