Spock stared.

This was not the Academy Substructure A. Those were not her teachers. She did not recognize their uniforms, if, in fact, they were uniforms and not an eccentric mode of fashion, and all of them appeared to be human. Almost.

In an emergency situation, wherein heat, hunger, and thirst were not applicable factors, it was paramount that she remain in a location where a family member could find her.

Spock remained very still.

At least one of the adults was Vulcan.

Spock's brow furrowed. She stepped away from the loud blonde. She did not like him, he was making fun of her ears, of the other Vulcan. Human children were not nicer.

Spock forced her expression flat. Smooth and clear like glass. That was how she had to be.

She did not like this boy. Vulcans were not bad. She was not bad. She turned away from him.

"So are you," said Chris, with a little smile. She seemed pretty smart, anyway. And her pointy eyebrows were kind of cool.

Then he remembered that he hadn't been polite and introduced himself like his mom had taught him and Charlie to do in company. "I forgot -" he added in a very soft whisper, since the lady was walking over to where they were - "Hello, my name is Christopher Pike, what's yours?"

As he whispered to the girl, he tried to watch the blond lady sideways at the same time, in case she did anything a Klingon would do. That wasn't so polite, but it was important to watch out.

"I am Spock," Spock answered and went quiet as she watched the suspicious women.
