"Gosh, gyuys I didn't realize we let this get so out of hand," says the still floating Mary. She seems very sheepish over the damage that is scattered all around them.
Was that a milk truck hanging from two light poles dribbling milk out onto the street? Oops. She's really sorry about that.
L-Ron stands beside Max, hard hat somewhat redundantly in tow. He makes short work of the projection costs of the construction on his clipboard. There are an awful lot of zeroes on that final figure...
"It's quite the fixer-upper, my benevolent overlord."
"Well, it's the least we can do to help clean up," Captain Marvel replies. He, too, is feeling somewhat guilty about the destruction, though he didn't have a lot of choice in the matter. When something of that size is attacking a city, and is that angry, there's unfortunately just a little too much collateral damage. But that doesn't stop the Captain from feeling a little bad about it.
"Oh, good, Susan! You brought the plans!" Max smiles warmly at her. "And I owe you nothing. The people of Fawcett City owe you much for helping us quickly reconstruct their downtown as if the Marvels never had battled... whatever that thing was." He glances over at the others. "Did you ever find out where it came from? Or why it had so many tentacles?"
Sue had to sell the Circle on Max being, in the immortal words of Douglas Adams, mostly harmless. she hopes he's going to be just that - mostly harmless.
"Next time," she notes. "I'd tell the people of Fawcett to not let the MIT kids near either the kids from Tokyo OR an open bar. Not sure that's what happened, but..." She looks at the mess. "That's my story and I'm sticking to it." Rather, it's the Circle's story and this is what they do.
"The next thing that comes at me looking even remotely like a tentacle--"
Bea's voice reaches them before she does. She's only been able to find one of her shoes since the fight, and she really likes these heels! They'd been the only part of her clothing that hadn't been treated to be flame-retardant (yet. Yet!), so she'd kicked them off and now apparently lost one.
Someone is going to pay for this.
"Sue! When did you get here? It doesn't matter, you can help me hide the bodies."
