After Vegas

Roxy takes out her very, very modified Q-Phone. While flying through space she checks baseball scores she had downloaded before she was beamed away from Earth. She's more of a football girl, but Gramps used to coach both, so Roxanne Ballentine's sports-fu is pretty good for a computer geek.

"Huh, the Cubs won."

"'Course," Guy said over his shoulder, having half-heard her. "Wait, who were they playing?" It took him a minute, Guy was never the quickest one on the update, but when he finally did get there, he shook something, like a pitbull when he had it in his teeth.

"Fawcett City." She shrugged. "Score one for the home team. While Jiminez is on a horrible team he managed to get a home run off Kupperberg for Fawcett's only run which means he's still -" She stops, self-consciously. "Just more stats."

"Jiminez needs to be traded," he sighed, shaking his head. "The guy's stuck on a losing team long enough, he's just gonna get branded as a loser." When she stopped, and looked like she was feeling self-conscious or guilty, Guy grinned. "You wanna go take in a ballgame, babe? You can work the scorecards, be my own personal commentary team. I'm more of a football guy myself, but baseball ain't bad at all. I coached a little league team a freakin' lifetime ago."

"I knew I liked you. I would take you to football, but it's not the season." Her grin is huge. "And everyone plays all wimpy for spring training so it's not worth seeing those games." She catches the last bit. "I think the one game we took in worked out well."

"You coached? I mean you mentioned the teaching kids thing, but not the coaching." Despite all the bravado she has no trouble picturing him rounding up a team. "Bet you made state."
