J.D. was wearing the dress she had picked out when she was shopping with Tula. She wasn't wearing her clown makeup, but she was accenting her pink and yellow nightmare with one pink shoe, one white shoe, and a big fake silk pink flower holding up her hair.

Which would've been nicely styled if she didn't look like a reject from the extra section of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

This was perfect! Tula was finally getting married! She was the maid of honor!

Down side: she was going to be standing really close to Roy the whole time.

She was muttering under her breath as they got ready to start walking up there, "donttriproytulawillkillyoudonttriproytulawillkillyou..."

Roy fusses with his tie for the hundredth time. Only any of the original Titans will manage to get him in a suit in his lifetime... and Killswitch... Besides being in the suit, Garth better feel double special because Roy's standing next to Headcase for this shindig.

"If I were you, I'd be more worried about that Cyndi Lauper throwback disaster you're wearing blinding people," he mutters back, smiling all the while.

"I'll have you know this is a classic gown," J.D. returned, biting the urge to call him Tracks. She had promised Donna. If he wasn't earning it she wouldn't say it.

Classically bad more like, classically bright certainly, but also classically J.D.

He won't say 'you started it', even if she did. He's not going to snipe back and forth with her at Garth's wedding. His arm around hers gets a little stiffer and so does his smile.

I'm sure this is punishment somehow.

Lilith was happy to be there and she was also happy for the bride and groom. It was wonderful that everyone who was invited had been able to make it. In the superhero community, there frequently were emergencies that kept one away from social obligations, and yet, everyone invited had managed to be present. It was a good sign. She also hadn't gotten any visions of anything disastrous happening.

She sits next to Lily. She is the alert system. Donna is the bouncer, even if she's pregnant. Also? Roy in suit still makes her skin crawl.

"Hey, lady."

"Hey yourself," said Lily with a little smile. She spoke in a hushed tone to avoid disturbing the ceremony. "It's a beautiful ceremony, isn't it?"

She hoped that Donna was comfortable, and that nobody caused problems. Of course, given the people present at the wedding, only an idiot would start trouble. She also hadn't gotten any premonitions of trouble to come yet, which was a good sign.

"Remember at Roy and my wedding where he made jokes about 'about time?'" she asks as she settles back into the chair. "This has been longer. It feels as if Persephone has blessed us this day."

Dick allowed time for everyone to get in, and get seated, and then started the ceremony, a huge grin on his face. They should have gotten one of them ordained sooner. "Dearly beloved..."

Oh yes, it's starting!

Garth may be serene, but Tula has energy to spare, held in check only by the presence of an audience.

She and Garth are getting married. After more than a decade, her death, and Dolphin, she and Garth are finally getting married. What is there not to be excited about?

But she's not making minute adjustments to her dress, or fiddling with the buttons on her mousquetaire gloves. She's standing still, politely holding her bouquet, and grinning fit to take off the top of her head.

They're getting married!

He smiles at her, appearing even more calm and serene than he did before she arrived.

When the time comes to exchange oaths, he reads his own.

"Tula, we have spent a long time together. We have spent a longer time apart. But even when you were gone, you were still with me.

"I promise that I will stand by your side, to protect you when I can, and to let you protect me when I need it.

"I promise that I will love and cherish you. I always have... but know that this will not fade with time. Instead, it will grow, as it has over the years. Every day, I fall in love with you all over again.

"When you are hurt, I will be there to heal you. When you are in need, I will be there to protect you. And when I need it, I will let you heal and protect me. Because we will be partners."

Tula takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. The energy she's carrying doesn't abate, but it quiets itself enough that she can speak without stammering or running her words into each other.

"Garth, from the moment I saw you, I knew you were the one I wanted to spend my life with. There have been some unexpected detours since, but that knowledge still stands. Your loving heart and inner strength inspire me to be the best person I can be.

"I promise to love you whole-heartedly, without reservations or conditions, the way you deserve to be loved. I will cherish and respect you, protect you and let you do the same for me.

"I promise to be your friend and partner, to stand by you in your work and in your play, to share in your burdens and your joys, and to share my own with you.

"I promise to savor our time together and I look forward to falling a little more in love with you each day.

"All this I vow, through all life's uncertainties, to death and beyond."
