Life and Death - even in the face of the near destruction of everything, Carter continues to move to the next thing. He's seen ages pass. Remembers so many names and faces he'll never see again. They did what had to be done - many were lost, others have returned... and its all part of the cycle.

And now, young lives are in the balance. His godson has lost his parents. Carter is in no shape to take on a child, but he's going to make very sure that someone suitable is looking after Aiden, at the least.

Two things mean more than everything else in the world, his own life included, to Ralph Dibney.

As soon as he'd had a chance to hug his wife, their very next reaction was to go after Allanah, both to assure she was alright, and to let her know that her zombie parents really had made it through, somehow.

Diana arrives not so soon after Ralph and Sue. She is concerned about the fates of several children. She had been worried she would not be able to be here for them.

The fact the children were safe filled her with joy.

Unlike those that came to check on the children, Batman was after only one child. Sandy Grayson. He arrived in the Batwing, his expression grim. In fact, the only semblance of pleasantry that the Dark Knight gave were three growled syllables. "Where is she?"

Tula had, reluctantly, let Cerdian and Garth take care of settling their guests - permanent and otherwise - into their rooms. She wouldn't shirk her duties as hostess under normal circumstances, but she'd needed to make sure that Avalon survived the undead onslaught. When they'd first arrived, she'd been worried that it hadn't; the island had seemed almost deserted. Fortunately, it turned out that the primary reason so few of the population remained was that indigo insects offered to help them help fight the living dead ( ... )

Garth steps out of the darkness, wordlessly. He puts his hands on her shoulders.

Her breath catches in her throat when he appears; and while she doesn't actually trip over her own feet, it feels as though she has. When she'd been living in Titans' Tower, every room had been his, had reminded her of his face or his laugh or his hands on her. Moving from room to room may as well have involved sliding shards of glass into her chest. Then she'd come away to this place, to Avalon, and built a home with nothing of him except for Cerdian and her memories and a few of his things packed away that she couldn't bear to get rid of completely. And now he's here too, snapping the two worlds together like some sort of strange magic trick, and for a moment she feels the world spinning under her feet. But his hands are on her shoulders, and it grounds her a little. She reaches out her hand and presses it against his chest, over his heart ( ... )

"Yes," he admits. "I don't know how well they'll sleep, but... they're in bed, anyway."

He holds her closely. "Tula... I'm sorry."
