At Earths End

Vic doesn't have much memory of what the hell just happened to him. He remembers resusscitating Kory, that kiss (and hot damn was that a kiss), and then some kind of big ass explosion amongst the various hypertime openings and then black. Vic had a feeling his digital memory wouldn't be able to piece together much and his neural implants would ( Read more... )

"Uhhg, my head hurts." Where am I? The last thing I remember... I don't know. I was with Lilith and...

Gnarrk gets up and looks around. "Where is this place?" He looks around and sees destruction, but no life. Wait, is that someone over there lying on the ground? I thought I saw movement. Whoever it is might be hurt.

Gnarrk hurries over to the figure, not expecting what he finds. "Can... Are you... Can I help you in some way?"

Cyborg sees the person make their way to him with the non-bio eye, but he manages to hear him normally. This is a good sign. Chances are debris is just covering that part of his face. Still, without getting a look through his normal eye and his databanks down he doesn't immediately recognize him.

"Yeah, firsta all can you get whatever th' hells on my face off? Second, you look familiar but I ain't got anything but the fleshy part o' my brain workin' right now. What's you're name again and..."

The aching comes back after the relief this person spoke English is there.

"Third, can ya find out where my legs are?"

Gnarrk gently lifts the debris off the... person. He is glad this mechanized man speaks English. "My name is Gnarrk. What is yours? And are your legs normal or metal?" Gnarrk proceeds to look around to see if he can see anything that looks like a metal leg, as that is the response he expects.

There, something on the ground reflects some light, it might be what he is looking for.

"M' legs are metal. I hope they're close enough to be whole and not blown to a buncha little pieces."

Cyborg knows him...he does. But the name is escaping him right now. Stupid memory circuits not working right. He'll probably remember it eventually on his own, but for right now he's glad for the help.

"And my name is Vic. Victor Stone."

The door bursts open, and a savage looking teenager bursts into the room. He slams the door shut behind him as quietly as he can, then looks around for a moment. He sees the other two, and places a single finger over his lips, gesturing for quiet.

Well, this was a moment where Vic wished he was at full power and ready to go in terms of fighting. He glances at Gnarrk before he cranes he head to bring his cybernetic eye into play, hoping to see exactly what the crazy kid in the shorts was running from.

Gnarrk puts his hand on Vic's shoulder and thinks I'll take care of you. He tries to keep an eye on the newcomer as well as the door, tensing his muscles to be ready for whatever is to come.

The blond youth listens carefully at the door for a long moment, then he seems to relax.

He turns to the others. "We have to be very quiet," he whispers.

Kamandi leads them several miles through the wilderness, past one paved freeway, cracked and broken with weeds poking through.

"His home is... somewhere in this region," Kamandi finally explains. "Perhaps in an underground shelter. He might have survived underground during the catastrophe..."

Vic was struggling to keep up, the metal tendons and servos straining against the damaged parts to stay solid and movable, but he is able to keep up. He focuses his non biological eye on the ground, trying to catch a hint.

"Drop Sleepin' Beauty wherever, Gnurrk. We should try to find his home. If we're lucky he'll have a whole shop so we can go fixing my legs. and he won't ocme to b'fore we do."

Gnarrk puts Vandal down and looks around for any sign of something that could be a base.

"So Kamandi, you're not sure what his base looks like? That will make this more difficult. And it's Gnarrk, Victor," he says with a smile. I wonder how many more ways he will find to mispronounce my name.

"My grandfather only survived the catastrophe because Command-D was partially underground," he explains. "I think Superman probably was underground, too."

He eyes Cyborg carefully. He's worried the metal-man might be falling apart.

When the heroes tie up the insane immortal, the door to the bunker will be found to be very easy to open. In fact, it looked as if Vandal had no intention to return here without fear of molestation. In it there are many relics of times past, including parts for that could be used to rebuild Vics arm. And that's just scratching the surface of the place. There is electrical power here, even when the outside world is reduced to the bare biological requirements of survival. And there are two things that give off an odd amount of sound: a large spherical machine that seemed intent to hold and stab whatever is held in it, and a strange box with the hiss and pop similar to a ham radio, but the sound seems far more...echo-y.

"What... is this place?" Kamandi asks, looking around.

Vic Stone looks around, trying to make heads and tails of just what he was seeing. This whole area seemed a bit too clean, too well organized for someone like the Vandal Savage they just fought.

"I...I really don't know. This shouldn't exist considerin' just how bad everythin' is outside. Good to know I may be able to fix myself up with the stuff here, but...dang."

"That victory felt too easy," Starfire says, cautiously looking over the technology present. It will be enough to repair Victor, and that's sufficient.

"Kamandi, Gnarrk, what is the situation of this world? Are their organized governments? Civilizations? Heroing teams? Criminal gangs? Will anyone be looking for Savage?"

A few hours of time with the mangled arm and a full shop of materials, and Vic at least had his arm working. It wasn't up to one hundred percent, but for the foreseeable future it would be adequate. And with said time he would have plenty of time to work on his arm and get it all the way back up.

It also keeps his mind off of the...other things going through his mind.

It's done. She would have liked to drop that monster from a cliff, break all his bones, and see how well he comes back from that...But she was asked not to. And the memory of the rage also stayed her hand.

Walking in, she is quiet enough not to alert Victor, hard at work repairing his cybernetics.

"I imagine it is difficult to repair that with only one arm. If you'd like me to assist, I certainly can."

There is a small smile from Vic when he hears Korys voice.

"I'd 'precciate it, Kory. I just got my arm workin' here, but I could use some help to get it 100%."

For a second, it looks like Vic will say more, but he stops himself.

She nods curtly and sits next to the toolbox. "Of all the places Trigon had to make his return," she grumbles. "And thank X'hal that Mar'i wasn't in our world. She has enough of a fear of death. The Black Lanterns used our own loves against us. For that, they're truly reprehensible."
