The blood of the Guardian has begun to congeal into a unique shape: a triangle with rays emerging from it, and an arc crossing those rays ( Read more... )

"You're missing the point," the young pale girl in black notes to him as Nekron continues to pull forth the Entity from its hiding place. "There's a very basic fact you seem to be missing."

"At last you show your face," Nekron notes casually. "You recognize at last how I shall supplant you."

"Maybe," she admits quietly. "That's my older brother's domain, not mine. But you're still missing the point."

"The point,"Nekron retorts, "is that you shall soon be gone, and I will truly be Death -- not merely one fragment of the whole."

The avatar of death smirks to itself. Everything is going well.

Things are not going well. Ganthet can sense the tides of battle are turning against the heroes. They are fighting a losing battle.

//This is Brother Warth,// a phantasmal voice reports to Ganthet. //Brother Hugh has gathered the Corps. Reinforcements are arriving. We show the center of the battle on Coast City... shall we join you there?//

Ganthet breathes out a small prayer. Hope has arrived. "Yes, Brother Warth... all forces, muster on Coast City."

And as Ganthet watches, streams of color begin to descend on Coast City from orbit. And not just the blue lights... but red, violet, orange, yellow, green, and indigo as well. All the corps are coming, summoned by their respective leaders.

But this alone will not shift the tide of the battle... for every Black Lantern in the universe is also converging to Coast City, to defend Nekron's unholy ritual. He can sense that, as well.

All the Black Lanterns... save those battling the Titans a few dozen miles away. But Ganthet knows that he cannot spare any lanterns to aid the young team.

But then a thought occurs to him. A memory, buried millions of years deep in his mind, comes bubbling to the surface.

And he realizes that perhaps he can aid all fronts of this war.

Hal, bruised and battered from his skirmish with Superman, comes to Ganthet's side. "Looks like the cavalry's here," Hal notes.

The Battle of Coast City has left Batman burning on the inside. After facing his eldest dead son and barely escaping with his life, there was little mercy left in the heart of the Goddamned Batman. By this hour, his gauntlets are stained black with rotting blood and his expression had hardened into a scowl that could cut rock. How many of the soul-less zombies had fallen to his fists alone, Batman lost count. Lost in the sea of death and destruction, he was too far gone to see the rainbow of colors that flew through the skies, finding their deputies.
