Clearwater is a place of hope and defiance. Started in the height of the Vietnam War by those who looked at the policies of mutually armed destruction and the "common wisdom" that the world would end in flames and said "no more

She takes two steps forward, but the animal in her stops her cold. There's something profoundly wrong with him. Her human side can't say what, but the beast wants to flee or fight.
Paco Guzmán isn't a super hero. He doesn't have powers, or a mask, or even a costume. He's a self-proclaimed sidekick who got on the ride just so that his best friend wouldn't have to go at it alone.
And now he's in the middle of...somewhere (ask where this 'Clearwater' place is? When it's all-hands-on-deck time? Nahh) far away from his home and family (God, please, please let them survive this somehow), fighting super-powered zombies with power rings. With a stick. How is this his life?
Or rather, how was that his life. He doesn't even see which Black Lantern it is who claims his will-filled heart. He just suddenly finds himself lying in the dirt, gasping as the world fades to black around him.
"Aye, nononononono!" Jaime tried to fly for Paco. He flew as fast as he could. And yet, it was too late.
"Dammit..." He rarely swore, but your best friend, your bro, that was a reason to.
"Paco! Paco, I know you're in there! Fight it!" He loved Paco like a brother. He was just slightly less annoying than Milargo, and slightly better at punching. And now-
\|/|- (/-\|\| >-|-||_|_ >-|-()|? |-||/|\ No, we have to have some way to save him! Please, let Paco be in there.
Brenda felt like all the breath had been punched from her lungs as she watched Paco collapse.
She went tearing through the fray, falling on her knees beside him, hands shaking as she tried to put pressure on his wounds, shaking his shoulder as much as she dared...
Paco twitches under Brenda's hands, then seizes and screams in what sounds like pain and anguish. It seems like he's trying to fight back, but is he? Or is the black ring on his hand already trying to stoke the hope in Brenda and Jaime's hearts?
"So...that's Trigon..." Eddie says as he stares at the towering demon, whose form was not unlike Eddie's own.
He didn't have time to ponder as he had to weave and dodge the assault of Black Lanterns that wanted to kill him. Red Devil unleashed his flames at the creatures, doing as much damage as he could. Eddie tried to look at the bright side, he was surrounded by every Titan ever, but that did little to help. It didn't look like they were going to win this one.
"And every one they take adds to their number!" Gear points out. "And removing the rings just makes the ring reconstruct their body!" He dodges a blast from one of the zombies, and frowns. "Backpack's readouts of the rings are... strange. They're... almost spongy. Like bones or coral. With an energy that Backpack's never seen before."
It just took a falter in energy, the sheer force of WILL displayed trying to make up for that drain, and Virgil was gutted by one of the Black Lanterns before he'd been able to for a response to Gear.
Starfire flies over the thick tangle of woods, starbolt after starbolt blasting away at the black lanterns.

Trigon has taken enough! The Black Lanterns have taken enough. She is pointedly not looking closely at them. It is the only way she can handle the hard task of sending them back to X'Hal
Superboy shot through the air like a missile, flying directly towards the Clearwater Commune. He got the call on the way to Coast City, and Clark had understood. The Titans were every bit Conner's family as Clark and Lois were. This made the approach all the more painful. Instead of just dreading the fate of his friends, he could hear them. He could hear them dying. And there wasn't a damned thing he could do about it yet.
As Superboy flies into the commune, he mostly sees as sea of undead. The first friendly face he sees is Kory, who is busy handing out starbolts to every Black Lantern in sight. Kon flies down towards her, sending burning beams of heat vision slicing through an advancing group of zombies. He swoops down, and lands a powerful hit at one of the Lanterns, sending it sailing through the air off into the distance. "Sorry I'm late Kory." Superboy said, glancing over his shoulder at Starfire.
"On it." Conner said, flying through the group at super-speed, trying to knock them around and stun them. Usually, he would just pound on guys like this, but after the fight with BL Supergirl, he was being a little more cautious.
The speed of Mercury, the power of Zeus, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the courage of Achilles, the only power Freddie's not using right now is his wisdom, and he's never been very good at using that.
But as fast as he takes Black Lanterns down (he has the advantage of not having the long association with some of these people many of the others do), they start rising right back up...

A gargoyle lands before her, a somewhat more sickly green than she might be used to. "Hey, babe... you holding up okay?"

*Kracka-thoom!*
Lightning was called out of the sky as Virgil pushed his abilities to their limits.
"Every one we take down, two more take their place, and the ones we do take just come back anyways!"

She starbolts a large tree, splitting the approaching horde in two.

His heart is full of will, but he's too tough to harvest at this moment.
But Tempest is a sorcerer of the elements. Mostly water, true, but also... lightning.
The corner of his mouth twitches upward as he casts his spell. "Shazam," he says.
And a bolt of mystic lightning arcs out of the dark sky towards Captain Marvel Jr.
