Blackest Night: JSA (open to the JSA!)

Dec 09, 2010 01:23

Obsidian had not been feeling well all day. Something just seemed off and he couldn't put his finger on it. He would have gone back home to see Damon but the other man was busy with a big case and was staying at a hotel close to the courtroom. Todd didn't want to worry him while he was working on something important ( Read more... )

Tommy had been in his room, trying to make sense of his increased senses when he heard the yell and the crash. He barrels downstairs to see Todd on his knees.

"Holy crap! You okay, Todd?"

Todd didn't look up, just struggling to his feet. "No...Tom something's coming..." he trailed off. "Something bad...we need to get the others and..." he paused, eyes going wide. "Run!"

It's shortly after Obsidian's warning that a pair of objects that might be recognized by anyone that's spent time around Dr. Midnight roll into the room. Black out bombs. They go off and the room goes dark. Tommy would be able to detect three new people in the room. Three that smell...dead.

Tommy fights the urge to cough at the smoke, but the smell of the smoke isn't what gets him. Its the smell of decay.

(FEAR)
(COMPASSION)

Tommy backs up, trying to use his ears and keep away from them. He doesn't know how to react, but his thoughts go to the other occupant of the room.

"Todd, if ya can, take cover! I'll try to find the others!"

Alan was in his own room when he first thought he heard a commotion from the kitchen. He made his way there out of curiosity until he saw the distant wisps of one of Pieters smokebombs.

"Pieter! Whats going on down there?" Alan calls down towards the kitchen. however, he's not able to do anything as something grabs for Alan from below.

What grabs at Alan Scott is what appears to be the withered remains of plants that have become impossibly long.

At the center is a decayed form with a symbol on its chest Alan doesn't recognize. The tattered remains of the costume and the voice however.

"Hello, my dear Alan. So wonderful to see you."

Alan stared at first, but something seemed off. It...it couldn't have been her. This was his wife, the mother of his children.

She was dead. She had been dead for years.

(love)

"You are not Rose," Alan exclaimed as he called the Green Flame to him, his normal uniform becoming armor.

"Tsk tsk tsk. Is that anyway to react to seeing your beloved wife." She moved closer letting her vines continue to slither and coil about his form. She walked in an appraising circle around him. "You have aged well dear." Smaller tendrils of dead and decayed plants came forth looking for chinks in his armor and seeking exposed skin.

Tommy would normally not think running down the corridors of the Brownstone yelling at the top of his lungs would be a good idea. The alarm didn't warn about dead people somehow coming to life and attacking the living like a George Romero movie either, so this one time he'll play Paul Revere.

"We're being attacked by dead people!" Tommy yelled repeatedly as he bounded, making as much noise as he can without breaking anything.

"Oh so much more than that."

The voice fills the room. Shadows loom larger, threatening to squeeze light from this place forever.

"Everything thing dies, new guy. Universes...relationships...light...It has a life span. Isn't that right -" A dark figure emerges from the shadows. This one doesn't look as much like a zombie. More like a photo-negative. "Just ask my brother."

"Tommy, run."

Obsidian emerges from some shadows of his own. He'd sensed this new arrival and it drew him right away from where he'd been going. He wasn't even sure if Alan was still following.

"Trust me, go as fast as you can," he urges, glaring at the photo-negative figure.

"Who the hell...?"

With Todds entrance, Tommy moved. This is a battle between shadows and a fuzzy cat person wouldn't be necessary. Trying to find his way in the shadows (they were encompassing him so much even his improved sight was having trouble), Tommy forces his way to some of the rooms.

Two of these rooms (right across the hall from one another) he had become familiar with: The rooms of Courtney and Maxine. They had to get up. they could help.

Hopefully the alarm blaring would be enough to wake them up...
