Disintegration

It's amazing that they haven't moved the son of a bitch.  He used to run Bludhaven.  Even got the drop on the Martian Manhunter somehow.  He blew the unholy hell out of city blocks just to stick it to one lousy bartender.  Now, he's a compost heap with a bedpan and catheter ( Read more... )

The bodies were discovered during morning rounds. Well, body singular. Amy Rohrbach has seen some truly screwed up things during her time in this broke little brother of Gotham's, but the chunks Roland Desmond aka Blockbuster was left in was a new brand of low.

In a gloved hand, she hefts the take out container. It's still just ever so slightly warm. Someone had their dinner while watching that. She does not call capes to do cop jobs, but whatever this is just caused this whole floor to be declared a biohazard. This city needs the hospital. They need STAR labs to grace them with their presence, and whoever was the sick puppy who did this needs to be euthanized. There one guy she knows with those kind of connections.

She scuttles everyone out of there while she dials the friendly neighborhood cape.

Hours later, a cup of coffee and a piece of pumpkin bread makes a small rattle as it is placed on the lab counter. "How goes the war?" she asks her husband.

Normally, Dick would stop and converse with his wife about the work, but lately, he's been channeling a lot more of Batman. The coffee and food isn't acknowledge with much more than a mumbled 'thanks' and Dick doesn't look up from the microscope.

"How are you?" he asks a bit absently.

"Better than you." She smiles thinly, but her green eyes betray the worry. She leans against the door. It's a new skills she's relearned. Her recovery is nearly completely. He can still sense the difference in the rhythm of her footsteps and those bad days where she still needs mechanical supports of some kind. Still, she's mobile - almost normal mobile - and that's the best she's been in a decade and the best she'll ever be again.

She comes over and moves fingers through his hair, eyes beckoning him with questions about how "all right" he is.

"I'm fine, Barbara. I just need to figure out what Jason's endgame is and where he is. Once I take him down, things go back to normal." Dick tells her ( ... )
