Dolphin's lawyer acknowledges his readiness to proceed while Dolphin herself smiles sardonically towards Tula.

Tula doesn't deign to look in Dolphin's direction. She contents herself with remembering exactly what it felt like to smash Dolphin's face against a rock wall and swearing again that Dolphin will be made to pay for her crimes. She continues to watch the judge.

The Checkmate guards eye the Atlanteans smugly. One of the Atlanteans, unfamiliar with American legal customs approaches the door. "What is taking place in there?"

One of the Checkmate operatives steps in front of the Atlantean, thrusting out his chest and sneering.

"Nothing that's any of your business," he says, not even bothering to hide his disdain. "You just go sit back down with the others and let us get on with our business."

"Sit your asses back down!" one of the other Checkmate operatives shouted as the rest of them began to cluster between the Atlanteans and the door. "This is a court of the United States of America, and you'll find out what's been decided behind that door when they come back out. SIT DOWN!"

He wouldn't be safe with Dolphin. She couldn't let him go with her. Even if Tula won, she had to get him away. Just in case.

Lian found him by the pool, after wandering around the base.

"Hey." She gave him a small smile.

He's been pacing, nervous. He knows what's going on, and he wanted to go with Tula, but she wouldn't let him, and he understands why. He just wishes he knew what was going on there.

"Hi, Lian," he replies.

Lian didn't waste anytime. She was going to get right to the point.

"We have to get out of here. It's not safe for you here."

"Did my mom win? Is she going to take me back?"

He's ready to follow her wherever she tells him to go.
