Legacies: A New Age

Mar 07, 2010 20:21

Alan stands over the large round table, the legacy of earlier times. Carter made it for the Society by hand, using the knowledge he had accrued over his many different lifetimes. It was a subtle reminder as to what was going on with his own line and the life of the JSA. he was getting older, and he would need to move forward in order to made sure ( Read more... )

Jay can read Alan very well by this point. He was expecting a meeting today.

He responds quickly, and is sitting at his chair in short order.

"Alan," he greets.

Captain Marvel follows shortly after Jay, taking his seat. He's curious as to what's going on, but he can wait until Alan's ready to explain.

Maxine took her seat at the round table, looking up at Alan. She was silent. For the time being.

Like Jay, Ted knows Alan well enough by now to figure out when the other man is going to call a meeting. He gave the room a nod before sitting at his seat.

This better be good.

"Thank you all for being so prompt. I called you here to help me figure out something I feel needs to be talked about: the future of the Justice Society of America. I feel like we can take the JSA in a new direction, but I want all of your feedback before we go any farther."

Alan crosses his arms and waits for the responses.

"What sort of new direction do you mean?" Marvel asks, curious.

"The Society is an older hero institution. We don't have the outright strength of the League, nor do we have the same kind of government connection that Checkmate has. What we do have are legacies. But I think it would be good to reach out to the legacies of our community as a whole."

"You mean like the Titans?" Power Girl asks, leaning forward in her seat. "Because they might get a little cranky if we start moving in on their their kids."

"Thank you very much," Alan says, smiling at the two other heroes. Alan takes a deep breath, then continues.

"Now, for the task at hand: we need to fill some holes in the roster if we're to become a mentoring group. i have gone over our current roster and think three spots could be filled: detective, magician, and non-hero support. For them, I have three names I would like to add to the table: Ralph and Sue Dibny, and for our magician, John Constantine. It's a bit...unorthodox, but considering my only tie to magic is my ring and Dr. Fate is not the best teacher, I thought reaching to someone else would be to our benefit."

"And for our first recruits, we look inward first: We approach Tommy for our first recruitment. Second, there is a young man currently with the Titans who has expressed interest in us, although I hear he is a bit off. Does anyone have any more for the recruitment pool?"

Jay raises his brow a little at the suggestion of Constantine. "Constantine is a little... rough around the edges..." he points out. "With the Outsiders having apparently disbanded, however, perhaps we could regain Sand back into our fold... and perhaps even some of their other former members."

"I was considering that, Jay, but the Outsiders is made up of poeple who already have a good handle on our lifestyle. We need some old hands and young fresh faces. Constantine, despite his rough edges, knows his way around the life. plus, with his...unique set of skills it may allow those mentoring with him to get information we may not have access to normally."

Alan looked around, his eyes settling on his cat-dressed companion.

"Would you mind talking to Tommy about joining the Society, Ted? I believe you would have the best chance at meeting him."

Even in his advanced age, Alans smile is as natural as a younger mans. He had only been back for a little while and things were already getting done. he loved that about the Society: When an idea grabbed hold, they ran with it whole heartedly.

"I'm going to try and get a hold of the elusive Mr. Constantine. Remember to make sure our guests are comfortable," Alan says as he begins to fly skyward, using the ring to phase him through the ceiling and into the sky. Alan increased his speed until the curvature of the Earth was visible, and then stopped and hovered.

It was only a matter of time.
