It had taken awhile to get the school where Brenda and Paco and Eddie had hidden out on Halloween up to snuff, security-wise. Storm paneling and chains were plenty good against zombies, but you wanted more than that when the building was a home-base for a bunch of teenage crime-fighters ( Read more... )

Megan - who had done the larger part of the internal teardown and gotten Zach's help for the drywalling em-masse - was floating up near the ceiling, humming happily as she zipped from socket to socket screwing in light bulbs and settling fixtures. The whole place was starting to look really good!

She landed lightly next to Paco's legs and peered in under the panel.

"You need any help?"

The flashlight that Paco had been attempting to hold between his jaw and shoulder so that he could use his hands to hold the book and do wiring fell to the ground with a thunk.

"Nahh, I think I'm good," he said. "Unless you could find me a headlamp. Whoever designed this thing must have had three hands or something."

Eddie's teleported to the new HQ to get a good look at how far it's come along. Since he had acquired his new power, he'd been helping a lot with teleporting large equipment and furniture inside. Eddie already had a nice room on the top floor picked out for himself, and it looked like it might be a good time to move all his stuff in.

Eventually Eddie comes across Paco, and sees what he's doing.

"Heya Paco." Eddie greets him. "Doing some electrical work huh? I used to do a lot of that."

"Hey Eddie," Paco said, peering out at the other teenager. "Yeah, I am. You any good at it? It's coming along, but I've had more practice with cars than computers."

That and he really, really hated trying to learn to do things from books. Wasn't his learning style or whatever the term for it was, and books wouldn't answer questions if you had them.

"Well, sort of. I'm more into animatronics and special effects, but I'm pretty good at understanding blue prints and schematics, in case you need any help with that."

Paco tossed the instruction manual at Eddie. "Then you can probably read that and tell me what wire I'm supposed to plug in where, and I'll have one less thing to juggle back here."

"Hey, mind switching out with the guy who can't get electrocuted?" Virgil asked.

"Yes please!"

Hey, if Virgil's willing to do it, Paco's more than happy to let him. He slid out from under the computers and flapped the booklet at him. "You want the instructions or do you just want to go at it your own way?"

"Nah, don't need it. Doesn't come up much anymore since Richie's better at it than I am, but I do have some technopathic ability, and a decent amount of brainpower on top of that. I got it covered."

"Niiiiice," Paco said approvingly, scooting out of the way to and gesturing Virgil toward his now-vacated spot. "You just rock on in there, then. I'm guessing you've got the light covered in there too, huh."
