Photo contests

I have been tossing around the idea of sending in a photo to the Popular Photography Readers Contest this year, this is the image I am thinking about sending in, but its a 10 dollar fee, and I am nervous about going through with it. I would really love opinions about it!

That is actually an excellent photo. A fantastic use of lighting and the color similarities between the kid's face and hair and the background create an overall feeling of continuity.

I'd say go for it. It's only 10 bucks.

I agree with Brad. This is high quality work Kat, and it's beautiful. You are worth way more than that $10 entry fee, so absolutely you should send it in.

If you haven't sent it in yet, do it. Here's why:

Your composition is interesting, your values of light and shadow are superb, the colors operate on a nice wide analogous color arch, and your overall use of focus and depth are fantastic. :)

Not only that, but you're an amazing photographer, and I agree with everyone else here- this photo shows that very well.

Keep at it!!! :D I expect to see your work in a gallery someday!
