Summary: What if they are related by blood?
‘Yah Lee Sungmin! I’m telling you for the last time. He, Cho Kyuhyun, loves you!’ Donghae sighed at his best friend. He has been trying to get it into his friend’s head but, unfortunately, nothing goes into the latter’s head.
‘No. He treasures his friendship more than his lover.’
‘Let’s have a bet then, Sungmin sshi.’ A familiar voice spoke in a low tone, the voice was so familiar that it irritates Sungmin.
‘What is the bet about?’
‘You, ask Kyuhyun to choose either one of us. Whoever Kyuhyun chooses gets to stay by his side forever.’
‘What would happen to the person that doesn’t get chosen?’ there was fear and happiness in Sungmin’s eyes. His eyes sparkled as if they were stars in the dark sky.
‘Yah, don’t have a bet with Ryeowook! Don’t be so stupid! You already HAVE Kyuhyun, why are you giving him up?!’ Donghae tried to stop his friend but he was too late. Ryeowook took Sungmin’s hand and did a pinky promise with the latter.
‘The person that doesn’t get chosen would leave Kyuhyun and promise never to appear before his eyes again.’ Sungmin shivered at Ryeowook’s low voice.
‘Why are you doing this?’
‘YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY? I’LL TELL YOU, BECAUSE KYUHYUN LOOKS ONLY AT YOU! ALL I WANT IS SOME ATTENTION FROM HIM BUT, HE GIVES YOU ALL IS ATTENTION!’ Ryeowook yelled and walked out of the room slamming the door behind him.
Moments later, the door swung open and Kyuhyun stood there with an arm around Ryeowook.
‘What happened to the both of you? Did both of you quarrel or something?’
‘Kyuhyun ah..’ Sungmin tried to talk.
‘Kyuhyun, let’s play a game!’ Ryeowook excitedly took 2 blank piece of paper and went to the table where Sungmin is sitting, Kyuhyun standing. He started scribbling words on the paper and crushed them before throwing them into an empty box and covered the lid, leaving a hold at the top of the box.
‘Put your hand in and take one. Sungmin sshi, I’ve chosen this way just in case you would cheat without me knowing.’ Sungmin immediately knows that the latter is talking about.
Both of them eyed as Kyuhyun puts his hand and takes out a piece of paper.
‘Do I have to read what I see on the paper?’
‘Go ahead.’
Ryeowook is chosen. Sungmin, please leave.
‘Ryeowook….’ Kyuhyun stopped and crushed the paper before taking the other one from the box.
‘What is this about?’
‘Nothing, just… a harmless game.’
Ryeowook hugged Kyuhyun tight in his arms while he signaled Sungmin to leave. Knowing from the start he would lose, Sungmin softly took his bad and to his locker, he grabbed the things that both Kyuhyun and himself shared. He left all the books behind but saw an envelope lying on the books, facing him. He took it along and left the school. Nothing he did now could change the face that he has to leave. He went back home to the apartment he shares with Kyuhyun. He went the kitchen and cooked for the last time. He then wrote down numbers for Kyuhyun just in case he wants to eat but can’t cook. He gathers his stuff and headed off. He placed the keys beside an envelope and leaves.

‘Has anyone seen Sungmin?!’ Kyuhyun asked as he entered Sungmin’s classroom.
‘Did you run from home? You look breathless.’ Donghae looked concern.
‘Yes, I ran but, did you see Sungmin? Was he with you last night? He didn’t come home and he didn’t call at all.’ Donghae looked at Kyuhyun and hugged him tightly.
‘You don’t know anything yet. It’s better this way. Kyuhyun ah, now go back to your class and concentrate on your studies. That’s what Sungmin wants...’ Donghae told Kyuhyun.
‘What am I supposed to know?! Tell me hyung. Tell me!’ Kyuhyun stood there with anxious eyes and took an envelope from his bag.
‘I saw this on the table this morning along with…. HIS KEYS! WHY WOULD HIS KEYS BE AT HOME?’ Donghae rolled his eyes before telling him to read the letter.
Dear Kyuhyun,
Thank you for everything. Perhaps we would meet again, someday...
‘Yah! What is this supposed to mean?! Donghae hyung! Tell me! Please! Did something happen to him?’ Kyuhyun looked at Donghae with pleading eyes.
‘It’s all too late now Kyuhyun. Sungmin has left. Nothing can change this truth anymore.’
‘Why would he leave?! Why?!’
Donghae really wanted to tell Kyuhyun everything so he can get Sungmin back but no, he can’t. He promised Sungmin he would keep this secret and he would take good care of Kyuhyun. Donghae said nothing but hugged Kyuhyun and tried to comfort him, but nothing works.

Kyuhyun’s studies dropped badly, Donghae noticed.
‘Sungmin ah, would you come back?’
‘Did something happen?’
‘Kyuhyun, that boy isn’t eating at all. He’s been staring out at the window for ages and refuses to leave the school! He comes to our class after all his lessons ends and sits on your seat and cries silently. Even Ryeowook can’t help him!’
‘Is it really that bad? Please, Donghae, help me. Take care of Kyu for me. I can’t go back, and you know it! I really can’t. So please, take care of him. Force him to eat if you have to. Use my name, see if he would eat.’
‘Sungmin, why are you really keeping this promise? Who knows, maybe Ryeowook cheated himself. Maybe he wrote his name in both of the paper! Come back will you? I miss you, Kyuhyun misses you!’
‘It’s not time yet. I promise, when I’m back, you’re the first one to know. I have to go now, bye Donghae~’ the line went dead. Donghae sighed and looked at Kyuhyun who is silently sobbing.

‘Kyuhyun ah, you should eat something. Sungmin would want you to eat too.’
‘Did Sungmin contacted you?!’ Kyuhyun stood up.
‘I’ll let you know the truth soon. You should know. It concerns your happiness. It isn’t fair to Sungmin at all.’
‘What is it about?’
‘A bet between Ryeowook and Sungmin.’
‘The one Ryeowook asked me to choose between 2 papers but both were his name?’
‘What?! So he cheated?! I knew it! Wait here, I’ll call Sungmin.’
‘You kept in contact with Sungmin?!’
‘Stay there and don’t talk please. Or else I can’t hear him.’ Kyuhyun stood there looking at Donghae while he calls Sungmin.
‘Sungmin! Can you hear me?’
‘Loud and clear.’
‘What? I can’t hear you.’
‘Cut it out Donghae, I know you can hear me clearly.’
‘Listen, Ryeowook cheated! He wrote both his names on the paper!’
‘Donghae, it’s useless. Ryeowook explained to me few hours ago. He felt bad but he doesn’t have a choice. He told me Kyuhyun and I, we are related by blood. His parents..’
‘Calm down Sungmin. Did you check with the doctor or something?’
‘No, I’m afraid..’
‘Come meet me. I’ll get Kyuhyun and both of you shall go through the test.’

‘Both of you should sit down and talk.’
‘I can’t hae, I can’t.’
‘Both of you stay here while I go get your results.’
‘No, don’t leave!’
‘Sungmin, I need to talk to you.’ Kyuhyun grabbed onto Sungmin’s wrist and pulled him into a hug.
‘I missed you so much hyung. Whatever the results, I would still love you.’
‘I’m afraid; I don’t want to know the truth...’
‘Let’s run away then.’ Kyuhyun held onto Sungmin’s hand and they started running.
‘Sungmin, Kyuhyun, the results are… out...I guess they ran away already. I knew they would do that.’ Donghae smiled and kept the big envelope in his bag.

‘Ryeowook sshi, I have bad news for you.’ Donghae smiled at Ryeowook.
‘What is it?’ For the first time, Donghae saw the real Ryeowook. The Ryeowook that wasn’t stuck up, the Ryeowook that looks innocent, the Ryeowook that is kind.
‘Sungmin and Kyuhyun are not related by blood, but you and Kyuhyun are related by blood.’
‘No. This can’t be! No! I loved Kyuhyun so much! We can’t be related by blood! No!’ Ryeowook ran out of the room.
‘Ryeowook sshi!’ Donghae chased after Ryeowook until he stopped running. The boy’s face was stained with tears, he clearly was crying.
‘We are not real brothers!’ Sungmin hugged Kyuhyun tightly.
‘Then who is my real brother?’ Kyuhyun looked at Sungmin curiously.
‘Ryeowook..’
