i don't think it has to do much with accent. for the most part, japan is pretty open minded. and the reason why boa got so popular was cause her songs were good. and she was good at performing. so it just takes something AMAZING to just sweep japan off their feet. and i don't think thsk has done that yet. because in my honest opinion, their japanese songs are just mediocre for me.

but as opposed to being known nationwide, they're still popular in japan. they have a pretty strong and decent fan base.

I hope they do so soon.. I don't why but hearing things like other bands FCs don't really see THSK as a rival or anything because they're not that popular bothers me. (or maybe I'm just too much of a biased fan x_x) And it just makes me feel sad when I go to a fangoods shop and Tohoshinki has the smallest section or whenever I'll go to a cd shop in Japan they're either in the world section or k-drama section. ==;

yeah..well they're predominantly known as "the korean band that sings well and topped the oricon charts a couple times." a lot of people still don't consider them as ...local? home? idk. cause in time, they'll have to go back home to korea.

but if they keep going at promoting in japan, like boa, they can make it big. it's just that they have obligations to their korean crazy fanbase. if they want to make it big in japan, they'll have to sacrifice a bit of korea..and i don't think they want to do that just yet.

May I know what you base this statement on? I am very curious.

hmmm..I don't know what to say...
it's kinda sad after hearing what you said...
but to be honest...it's the truth...
yeah I have friends studying over there in Japan and not half of them know about Tohoshinki...
to think again...yeah they did attract many fans going to their concert and they said almost 400000 people came right??
but I think almost the same people came to the concerts...
I mean I knew someone who bought tickets like to almost 5 venues...
and sometimes the fan outside Japan were the one who came...
there's another girl I knew that went to all their 'T' tour..
but whatever it is..I really hope that Tohoshinki will do great in Japan!!!
because they did like everything they can and they deserve to be famous...
they really got the talent and of course looks *yummy*
Tohoshinki hwaiting!!!

they're still pretty much considered foreigners, but i do believe they're getting there. i think it still comes as a bit of a downer for some of us 'cause the korean media continue to praise them like they've secured a spot on top already when all they did was top the oricon charts twice. a praiseworthy feat, but not the end of the road, y'know?
we just gotta give them time.

I agree with chupark on the accent issue. Japan is a very open market for example American albums are easy to find there and they play American music while I was shopping was in Osaka. You can find some korean music as well. If I remember correctly, my friend bought Super Junior's cd in Japan as well.

Anyway from what i heard when talking to my japanese friends last summer they are kind of popular but not really popular.

I think the boys are doing okay in Japan. I think they might need to work on their music a little bit more though. I'm still not used to listening to them in Japanese. To me they still sound kind of strange. Can't really explain it. But I love watching them on Japanese tv shows though.
Good luck to them in the future.

Meh... I don't think it's THAT open. I mean, sure they sell American music but so do a lot of other countries. As for foreign people in Japan trying to make it big specifically in Japan, it's not exactly an easy ride =/

Oh okay I'm not familiar with how other countries sell music except for Japan and the United States since that's what I usually listen to. I'm not a big kpop fan but I do listen to it sometimes.

Yeah it's not an easy ride. It's not really suppose to be. But the same goes for any band going into a foreign country. The local stars will always have the advantage. You have to constantly release a new single every few months or sometimes longer. But dbsk release a lot more singles than any of the Japanese bands I've seen.

Honestly, I prefer their Japanese songs over the Korean ones.
