Being an artist is hard, because most of the time you are your only cheerleader, motivator, support team and the person who believes you can do it. But it's your dream and you have come so far and I know you have farther still to climb up to!
Keep promoting and meet-n-greeting and putting yourself out there! You are awesome, you just have to get the rest of the world to see ^_^ *cuddles*
You're doing well Cyn. :) I can only imagine how hard it's been, but look at you - you've been out there, you've made some headway into your career. It's a good accomplishment.
Thank you, both of you. :) I'm one of those who sees the glass half-empty, so I have to remind myself I managed to get more gigs in the last three months than in the last three years. Still, with day jobs not forthcoming, it's becoming increasingly hard. I have six months left on the lease, which means I have about four months at most to make something happen or go back to Jersey.
Part of what makes it so hard is that I'm 40, an age by which time you've either won or gone home. (Of course, when I get asked my age, I tell them I'm 28, LOL)
I really do appreciate the kind words. I do apologize for the whinging in my LJ lately, but then again, if I don't vent in my LJ, where else is there to do it? It does keep me going on my bleakest days.
Tomorrow I have marketing reports to do (as well as get my camera hopefully fixed) but I must remind myself to work on my mix!
Of course you can vent in your LJ. I think it's the only place I can vent and not feel too horrible about doing so.
It's really funny you know, back when I was in high school I thought that by the time I reached 25 I'd be in a career and be making a good salary. HA. Then when I was in my late 20's that age got pushed to 35... (and now at 31, I'm going "yeah, right.") ;) So you know, I think with the way things are in the world these days, it's a constant struggle. There's no set age where you're supposed to "have made it by now". So really, don't feel bad about the age thing. I figure when I'm 40 I likely still won't have a permanent steady job (depressing thought).
Hang in there Cyn. Keep going, and if you need help from time to time we'll be here to cheer you on. :)
Me too, I have a hard time quitting. I don't like to give up on anyone. It can be a good thing when your tenacity is rewarded, but frustrated when all efforts are in vain.
