Tuesday morning rant

Dec 16, 2008 11:16

Note to self:

Do not argue with Saint (username deleted) about anything. Because when you're a single mother raising your child in the ghetto after your babydaddy has abandoned you, your opinion on stupid_free (aka Everyone Is Entitled To My Opinion) is automatically the right one, and since I'm childfree, I'm obviously a moron ( Read more... )

As an outsider to both sides (thank goodness), reading your post and the comments that follow...

Yes, you were calm, stated your opinion, remained calm despite the escalating reactions on the other side. They were really interesting to read. I especially found missysedai's reactions disturbing. I imagine she is well-known for such reactions...and such individuals tend to be a turn-off for me. You did not rise to her bait, though I have to say, I did not see you set any for her, either.

C, a single, widowed, mother of two...

Thanks. :) I wasn't going to go back to that thread in the first place, but it was morning and I had Car Crash Syndrome.

I rarely even read anything that comm posts anymore; for every true stupid there's at least 20 posts that consist of This Is Stupid Because I Don't Agree With It. That chick karnythia is one of the posters everyone worships for some reason (there's another equally as bad, but what he posts is usually much more pompous and boring). I have no idea who's a shit-stirrer with no life, so yeah.

Ah well, it's the internet, who wants to listen to reason anyway. Why think someone is stating a calm, rational opinion when you don't have to.

Grin on the Car Crash Syndrome! That's why I had to go see, as it was hard for me to imagine someone as calm and thoughtful as you being dragged into something like that. I pretty much found what I expected.

I have so many thoughts about people who live their lives via internet...first, how in the world do they get anything real done??? *shrug* Life's too short and I am too busy to go nuts over things that are none of my business in the first place. But being like that, so involved in that kind of world, is important to some people I guess. I'll leave them to it. *shakes head*

I'd rather be writing, or playing with my dogs, or talking to my boyfriend, or cooking dinner with my daughter...

Have a lovely day, and hey, I'm so looking forward to 2009 now and writing fun to come. Yeah yeah yeah.

Truth be told, I do have a short temper, but for some reason it's easier for me to be rational on the net. Maybe it's because it's easier to think things out before you press the enter button.

True that...I'm on way too much as it is, I'm on right now as I'm working on marketing projects. But yeah, I'd rather be doing something useful, like my marketing projects, or writing or following my POM obsession or working on DJ-related things...you get the idea.

Which reminds me, I haven't posted my pledge yet. Must do that today! Have an awesome day...I'll post something more meaningful later!

Augh, I must be stupid, but I can't find the posts you're referring to. Could you give a direct link? *rubs forehead*

Here you go. It's on page 3 I think.

And remember, having a different opinion from the majority = flouncing. See, we both learned something today. ^_^ Now back to boring marketing reports.

Hmmm I gotta say, whenever someone starts with "Well, I didn't see the thread in question / didn't get to read it before it was deleted" and then goes on to make a judgement about how the thread went or what was said, it usually doesn't go well, hun. You didn't do yourself any favours there :/ You and I know there are certain CF comms that have a lot of selfish children in them, it's hard to acknowledge/accept but they are there and they are vocal and they do make the rest look bad. It sucks! *comfs*

My judgement was based on how the thread appeared when I left my comment that morning. It is very possible it could have gone batshit since then. I'm also very well aware there were nutjobs on the original thread in question. However, it should have been fairly obvious that I was calmly stating an opinion, not "flouncing" (whatever that means). My mistake (if you want to call it that)? That I was stating my opinion against Ghetto Queen Karnythia, one of the most popular members of SF. If it was a first-time poster, I doubt I would gotten half the flames that I did. Such is life on the internet.

I'm well-aware there are lots of wackos in CF; many times I roll my eyes at the so-called "bingo" posts and such. It is irritating that I get lumped in with them for stating my opinion, but again, I did dare to say Ghetto Queen Karnythia might have been wrong. ::shrug::

Like I said, arguing in that comm is like the Special Olympics...you may have won, but in the end you're still a retard.

The flouncing remark seemed to be a mistake on their part, I think they were aiming for a different word, since in order to flounce you would have left the comm or announced to all and sundry you were leaving the comm, which you didn't do. I dunno what word they meant to use, fuss maybe ( ... )

Clearing and clarifying dazzababe December 17 2008, 06:38:03 UTC
I apologize for my remarks sounding racist; that was not my intention. These days the word "ghetto" is more used to describe behaviour than skin colour, and IMO is just as generic a term as "white trash"--a term I have used in this blog several times. I do understand where you are coming from and acknowledge that perhaps I did push the issue slightly further than I should have.

However, Karnythia has also been known to press the race button fairly often in her postings. Does that make what I said in my posting above justified? Absolutely not. But it pisses me off just the same whenever I see someone pressing the race button just because they can. This isn't the first time she's PO'd me either. Nine times out of ten I can catch what I write and stop myself before I hit that submit button. This just happened to be the tenth.

Also, just to clarify, my term was only used here, in my own blog, and not on SF.
