I just got back from the psychologist and I can tell already this is going to go nowhere. I just got the same old bs homework: talk to three strangers, by the time of my next appointment. I know I'm not going to do that. This is not going to work. I wish my mom understood that. I know I'm going to wind up pissing this therapist off...probably by my ( Read more... )

Can't think of anything constructive to say, but yeh, I'm familiar with the scenario. I suppose keep in mind that your mom is trying to help, even if it's a flawed approach - it's probably the only thing she can think of right now. Probably the best approach is to stick with it for a short while to show that you gave it a shot - that way you don't have the potential problem of the "We tried to help and you didn't want to know" line.

Yeah, first appointments are usually awkward anyway. I think my mom really is doing this because she doesn't know what else to do with me. I just really don't want her to think she's a failure of a parent. I'm still not hopeful about this, but I guess I will see how the second appointment goes.

Boring stuff as in college? Well, it's pretty much the same here. On the computer most of the day.

I felt like that for years with the therapists I've visited.
They just never seem to ask the right questions...
One told me, I'm too smart for my own good...which may be true, because I can sift through the psychobabble to see that homework and these exercises do nothing for me.

*hugs*

Don't vanish just yet, I quite fancy u.

Yeah, that's my issue with therapists. They never ask the right questions. If they did and tried to probe deeper, I'd be happy to say what I really feel. I think I understand my mind better than they could. Instead the questions they ask are rather superficial.
