because men are terrified of rejection and being "clever" is a way of shielding themselves.
dude needed a gimmick because deep inside, he probably felt HE ALONE wasnt enough.
he shouldve just been straight up with her yes, because i know a chick like me wouldve forgot what the last digit was (especially if im working) and i aint gonna be calling all kinds of wrong numbers to get it right.
