I'm not meaning this as bashing. I'm totally not. I'm asking because I'm really wondering what the answers were from an authorial perspective, because you're really not the type of writer who comes to mind when I think of 'people who would kill off female characters with prejudice because they didn't like the female character in the way of their OTP ( ... )

i certainly didn't write this piece with that intent at all. in fact, Mirrorcloak isn't Mirage's intended, she's his cousin (whom he still doesn't really like, but that's beside the point). it just hasn't been addressed clearly yet, though i realize that it's very easy to think that she is his intended based on the situation ( ... )

That's good to know -- all parts of it! :) Your comments about the pieces the audience didn't know helped me understand where several things were coming from too.

Do you want to know the specific lines that led me to some of the impressions I had that turned out to be not-what-was-going-on-with-author-knowledge? (Like why I thought Mirrorcloak was the fiancee rather than a relative of his, and why Vortex's bed-chaining made me think rape instead of dissection, and why Mirage's 'I'm fine now' tied into the checklist in my head since I haven't read the parts that are coming?)

Are we supposed to understand that Mirrorcloak's not his fiancee yet, or things like that? Or is the reader's current state of not-knowing-these-things part of the deliberate plot arc effect? :)

It really is a relief to know there was a purpose behind this. :D Obviously it's still a pretty disturbing fic, but I somehow have an easier time dealing with deliberate and thought-out disturbing fics. ...which probably sounds backwards, doesn't it? on the surface, ( ... )

i would love to know which passage led you to think that Mirrorcloak was Mirage's intended, that way i can address it appropriately in section 3. (and possibly edit this section to better reflect that maybe they're not together like that ( ... )

I felt kinda sorry for Mirrorcloak, but at least she didn't give Mirage away (further than she already did).

i felt pretty bad for her too. she wasn't really a bad femme, just in the wrong place at the worst possible time.
