Oh thank god I'm not the only one. I'm usually super easy to please on the Bones front, and as a general rule would have already downloaded and replayed tonight's episode about 2.5 times at this point. If it's got Booth and Brennan in the same scene, I'm all about it. But this week, after having waited all summer for new epic greatness, I feel cheated.
Yeah, it was way cheap and easy and a total cop-out. It's ridiculous, sometimes, that I even think I should be expecting more from this show, but there are such flashes of amazingness and genuine QUALITY sometimes that I can't help it. Tonight didn't live up to the 100th ep or the finale. The characters didn't feel genuine: it is established CANON that Brennan knows the way she feels about Booth (at least to me, and I don't think I'm reaching here) and to backtrack so thoroughly is disappointing. There were great places to take the premiere and they didn't really hit ... well, any of them.
It's okay though. I'm just going to sit back and wait for the next bit of quality to shine through and take what I can get.
Is that the wrong way of doing it? On the other hand, Community and Fringe were SO GOOD tonight. Is that comforting at least?
It was just - so extremely weirdly paced, and boring. Why does no one still appreciate Cam? The end should have been the opening gag before the smash cut to the credits. I'm not SAYING I am not 100% on board with the direction of this season - Brennan comes back from Indonesia pretty much all right now with being in love with Booth, while Booth is trying to move on AND CLEARLY WE ALL KNOW THIS WON'T LAST BECAUSE THEY ARE THEM... I didn't need to spend 42 minutes dwelling on what could have taken 5 minutes? Basically?
Seriously. Why do these none of these people realize that Cam is literally the reason they are all there? (Cam meets Brennan; Cam tells Booth about Brennan; Brennan gives Angela a job. Etc.)
This! The only two times when I genuinely actually cared had to do with the baby, because something had happened. (Brennan's reaction being 110% her reaction to Angela asking her to be maid of honor in Season 2 = gosh, I love that face.)

It was a good episode, but without the Brennan/Booth chemistry, it was just. another. TV. show.
On the happy front, Big Bang was hilarious, Project Runway was fun, and tomorrow we'll watch the DVR'd Fringe.
