OMG WHYY AM I COMMENTING AGAIN, I DON'T KNOW. Maybe because you're intense denial of the Molly stuff makes me slightly batty (IN A FUN WAY, DON'T WORRY. You don't need to answer this, I'm just at work and can't think about anything but Ashes all the sudden) because I've made 40,000 posts about all the beats in the show where it could be a thing, not just in 1x01. I just wanted to also say because I think I forgot to mention...just because dead Molly might possibly be dead, doesn't mean Alex herself wasn't shot or injured or in a coma? I think you're underestimating the opening scene (and their ability to go back and revise what we think we know about A2A AND LoM) and the many interesting Molly things/parallels/moments throughout (have you read all the posts or? I'm just wondering because it's all so very there, even if they don't go that route. They have an opportunity to make this show uber smarter than it already is, rather than just saying, yup, everything that's right it front of you...that's it. I've only seen S1 of A2A, and I could never get into it because of my insane love for LoM (or really, LoM-as-psychological-thriller/character study) and if Gene exists independent of Sam's brain, then everything I love about LoM ceases to exist...

But anyway...even before you said the L (LOST) word, I thought your theory sounded like LOST. So, it would be pretty funny if Gene = Jacob. ;p (or MIB/faux Locke :p )
