Run Away

Kurt/Blaine - G

GLEE AU | The Anderberry and the Hummel-Hudson families are rich and proud, and they don’t marry just anyone. So the parents decided that their children’s gonna get married to each other. Rachel’s more than happy when the day comes, but Kurt doesn’t want any of this - because the only person he wants to marry is Rachel’s brother, Blaine.
So what if they run away…?

From this gifset

Kurt fiddles with his tie, cursing as one end hangs loose, drooping slightly. His hands are shaking and he can feel himself getting frustrated with the stupid thing that won’t stay in place, no matter how many times he re-does it.

“Here,” a voice says from behind him. Kurt’s breath catches in his throat, as he silently nods; watching as Blaine re-does his bowtie, giving each end a firm tug to ensure it won’t fall loose again. Blaine’s eyes remain downwards, not once glancing at Kurt, who spends this time counting Blaine’s curls, desperately wishing he could reach out and card his fingers through the beautiful mess.

“Thanks,” Kurt says in a small whisper. Please look at me.

Blaine waves his hand as though to say it was nothing, a small smile playing at his lips as he rubs the back of his neck gingerly. “I better… I better go.” His voice is quiet and Kurt has to strain to hear him. The room they’re in is on the other side of the Church, away from all of the guests and the bride (oh god, he thinks). No one would hear him if he screamed right now.

Kurt bites down on his bottom lip, feeling his earlier shaking change into a hard tremble. He can feel his legs giving out; can feel his heart ripping in half and shattering at the bottom of ribcage as Blaine, hisBlaine barely looks at him, making his way out of the room. The next time he’ll see Blaine will be at the alter when he married Rachel.

Rachel.

Kurt laughs bitterly to himself. The very idea of marrying her is ridiculous. But the contract had been written and agreed before their births (The first born child of Mr H and Mr L Berry will hereby marry the first born child of Mr B and Mrs E Hummel after the eighteenth birthday of the youngest child).

It was Rachel’s eighteenth last Sunday and now here they are, at their promised wedding.

The Hummel’s were a rich family, one of the oldest and noble families in Lima. When Burt Hummel married Carole Hudson, this only increased their wealth and standing within the area. It was only practical that the Hummel-Hudson’s and the Berry’s, the second largest family, should join union.

Kurt curses the fact that Blaine was born second every day. But what he curses more is the fact that he’s too scared and too ashamed to tell anyone that he’s gay. He knows his dad would love him regardless, but how do you tell someone, let alone your dad, that you’ve been in love with your betroth’s brother for the past five years? The fall out, not just the financial, but the social, would be devastating.

Kurt has accepted and even embraces his sexuality and if he had a choice, he would have come out years ago. But plans for his wedding and for what come after have been set in motion a lot longer. Joint land ownership that would make the Hummel-Hudson’s richer than they already were and grandchildren to keep the family name alive. Kurt shudders every time he thinks about having sex with Rachel.

“Please… don’t,” Kurt says, talking to his shoes because if he looks up and sees Blaine leave his legs won’t just threaten to collapse beneath him, he’d be on the floor. He can’t bear to look up in case Blaine is already gone. His gaze only lifts when he hears a tiny whimper and he looks to see Blaine with one hand gripping the handle and his forehead pressing against the dark oak of the door. Blaine lets out another whimper, though this one is louder and sounds more like a sob.

Kurt’s eyes widen and it feels like someone has kicked him square in his stomach. He takes several strides over to Blaine, but the moment his hand touches Blaine’s shoulder, he barely has a chance to say, “Oh Bl-“ before Blaine has spun round, crashing his lips against Kurt’s.

Kurt blinks in surprise, letting out a yelp, which gives Blaine the perfect opportunity to push his tongue into Kurt’s open mouth, licking along his bottom lip and tracing his teeth. The kiss is sloppy and their teeth bang together a few times but it’s the most alive Kurt has felt all week.

Blaine lets out a deep moan, his hands wrapping around Kurt’s waist, pulling him close so their bodies are flush together. Kurt returns his feelings by pressing his fingers into Blaine’s hips tightly, knowing that if this is their last time together that Blaine will have his finger marks in his skin to remind him, if only for a little while.

Kurt’s eyes squeeze shut as he feels them pool with tears, which start to fall despite how tight his eyelids are shut. He can taste his tears, salty on his lips as they run down his chin. Blaine’s hand reaches up and cups his jaw, his thumb brushing over the wet patch of his cheek.

As they pull apart, Blaine rests his forehead against Kurt’s, gentle soothing him. “Sssh,” Blaine whispers. “Don’t cry, baby.”

Kurt opens his eyes and is met with Blaine’s own. They’re darker than he’s seen them before. Unforgivably dark, the whites of his eyes bloodshot and the skin around them swollen red. His eyes look dead and he’s lost his usual sparkle.

“I can’t lose you,” Kurt says, holding if possible, tighter to Blaine’s hips.

Blaine’s lip twitches and he licks them before placing a wet kiss to Kurt’s jaw. “We can’t… our parents… Rachel… I couldn’t do this to her, she’s my sister.”

Kurt swallows the painful lump in his throat and pulls out of Blaine’s hold, causing the other boy to look crestfallen at the loss. Kurt takes a deep breath, steadying himself before he takes hold of Blaine’s hand.

Blaine blinks back his own tears, his gaze shooting between their interlaced fingers and Kurt’s determined expression. He’s about to ask what Kurt is thinking when -

“We run,” Kurt says, his voice strong and controlled. “Now. We run and we never look back.”

Blaine leans forwards, kissing him briefly. He squeezes Kurt’s hand in his own. “Let’s go.”
